When Kyungsoo saw Yixing marching towards him like a soldier on a mission the next day in school, he knew he was in deep shit.
The fury rolled off of the school office secretary in waves. Kyungsoo could feel them hurling against him, threatening to destroy him like the rocks of a seaside cliff.
Yixing was the type of person who rarely got angry. It took a lot to pull him out of his comfort zone and get him to lose his composure. Kyungsoo's eyes widened knowing he had slammed the nail right on the head.
He pressed himself up against his locker as Yixing took his final steps towards his target. The older planted his lean form right before Kyungsoo, arms folded over his chest.
There was a glint in Yixing's eyes, and Kyungsoo realized there was something else mixed in with the overwhelming anger. He'd been seeing it with a lot of people every time they looked at him lately.
It was a feeling of disappointment, and remorse. Yixing felt sorry for Kyungsoo. The younger man suddenly felt trampled beneath Yixing's and everyone else's feet. He felt like trash.
Yixing took another menacing step towards him. "Care to explain what happened yesterday?"
Kyungsoo feigned shock. "I beg your pardon?"
"Tao!" Yixing roared. "The whole incident with Tao! You left him behind at a club, Kyungsoo! With - with Wu Yifan!"
Kyungsoo bit his lip. Those were some tough accusations. A weight fell onto Kyungsoo's shoulders, and he could already feel the tightness of the noose Yixing was more than willing to tie around his neck.
Kyungsoo fidgeted with his fingers and looked away. Yixing laughed, almost sarcastically, at the action. He hated how Kyungsoo was trying to behave like the victim here.
The younger man wished he could melt into the lockers behind him. Just turn blue and morph into paint. Yixing could spray paint a dick on him afterward for all he cared.
Yixing stopped laughing a few moments later, expecting an answer to the question he'd asked before. Kyungsoo glanced up at his face, surprised to find it as calm as it always was. Yixing's vibrant eyes did the speaking of emotions for his expression.
"Did Yifan do anything to Tao?" Kyungsoo asked.
"Oh," Yixing snarled. "So now you care. Why didn't you call and ask Tao if he got home alright, huh? Or were you too busy giving Jongin head?"
Kyungsoo snapped his mouth shut and prevented himself from telling Yixing what Jongin's extreme measure of punishment had been back at the club. The irony almost killed him.
"I hate seeing you throw your life away," Yixing mumbled. "You used to be so on top of things, Soo. And ever since Jongin... I don't know. It's like everything has gone downhill. Even your relationships with your friends."
Kyungsoo furrowed his eyebrows and shut his eyes.
"Sehun called me yesterday. Do you know how much he vented out to me about how angry he was with you? You haven't even been attending student council meetings on a regular basis anymore. They're replacing you with Baekhyun as of next week. Did you know that, Soo? Did you?"
Kyungsoo felt the tears crawling their way out from behind his closed eyes. That was it. The final straw. The school was officially fed up with the nonsense behavior he'd been portraying for the past few weeks.
He suddenly couldn't believe how he'd taken the title of school president for granted. It had taken him so much to earn it, and so little to lose it to somebody else. And he couldn't imagine that somebody being Byun Baekhyun.
