Eight years had soon passed since that day at the park. However, their separation didn't last long. Keito began to make room for Ryukon in his schedule, increasing that time over the years. Ryukon was currently looking outside of a spare classroom window at his school, Akademi High, during lunch. He sat in Taro's old seat.
He stared absently at the trees while squinting his eyes from the sunlight. He imagined drops of rain suddenly falling from the sky in memory of the moment he first felt true disappointment. He blinked tiredly from contemplating a tough decision all night.
"Maybe I should give up on him..." Ryukon said. Those words caused him to hold his eyes shut. He rested his head on his arms. Weights have been on his shoulders for years thinking about Keito. The longer he thought his love would turn to friendship, the stronger it got... and the more it mocked him, "at least we're friends?..." he thought. His phone then vibrated on his desk. He sat up and checked it, seeing a message from a random three-digit number.
"Hello. We need to talk about Keito Shidesu," the message said.
Ryukon's spine shivered from the coincidence. He debated on what to message back. However, another text went through.
"I'm aware you don't know me too well. Call me Info White."
He decided to message back, "Info White? Shouldn't you be an Info Chan?... and how did you get my number?"
"Me and my sister are BOTH Info Chans. I am Info White, while she is Info Red. Also, if you are aware of what an Info Chan is, you should know that we just have this stuff on deck."
"I mean... I guess..." he said aloud. He got another message.
"Getting back on topic, there is some information about Keito Shidesu that you need to know," Info White started, "his family is involved in a gang, and his loyalty has been sold to it since birth. It's the reason why he can't get closer to you."
Ryukon was fixed on that message. Keito's behavior and his "friends" began to make more sense now. "you're joking..."
"In order for him to be out of this gang, there are 4 girls keeping him in it. They all are daughters of branch leaders. The leaders will be powerless if something were to happen to their next in line..."
Ryukon looked at the message confused, but then it hit him.
"I'm not doing that... I know I can fight well, but I'm not killing or harming anyone..."
"Listen... His head is not in a good place because of this deal his family got sucked into... The leaders are even trying to set their daughters up with him. This gang has run the school since the Saikou Family relocated 18 years ago."
Ryukon read the messages, but then squinted at them, "I don't know if I believe you about this..."
"He actually doesn't mind being around you.... At all. That's... painfully obvious actually... However, he has to marry one of those girls for his family's sake. If you want Keito, you have to get rid of those girls."
"I said I'm not doing it!" Ryukon messaged back. He almost yelled it out loud.
"Suit yourself. However, someone's coming down the hall to maybe change your mind... Trust me.. She's good at it," Info White said.
"Huh?" Ryukon said aloud.
Eri had walked into the room and slammed the sliding door behind her. Ryukon wasn't sure how she could get away with long and frizzy ponytails at school, but it didn't seem like they were brave enough to enforce rules here. Akademi High truly fell from grace during these almost two decades. She was proof of their school now accepting anyone. She walked over to Ryukon's desk and leaned down to be face to face with him. She smiled and suddenly placed a knife toward his forehead.
"Listen... everyone in this school knows that Keito is mine and mine only... He's been a little too fixed on you for years now, and I don't like it!"
Ryukon managed to stare her dead in the eyes.
"Don't be foolish... Don't be a hero... and leave him alone... And if you do that, maybe I'll invite you to the wedding!.... Maybe... Okay?... Okie?" Eri smiled afterward and placed the knife away. She headed toward the door and looked back.
"Don't... test... my... patience..."
She then skipped out of the room, sliding the doors back kindly. Her instability made Ryukon's head throb. He knew his reputation would plummet if he were to chase her down, but he was beginning not to care. He then thought about his parents. He knew his parents wanted him to have a drama-free school life, unlike what they had. His phone got another message.
"Geez, do you know how many people would pay you to get rid of her?" Info White messaged, "you may be a dress up doll for your friends, but you're also one of the best fighters in school..."
Ryukon ignored the message from Info White. Eri was irritating, but it wasn't enough to make him break his parents' dreams. He then got a call from Keito. Ryukon's adrenaline kicked up.
"Hello?" Ryukon answered, "is everything alright? You don't call often..."
"...C-...Can you come over?..." Keito asked, "don't ask... I just need you to come over... I'll explain everything when you get here..." he sniffled.
Ryukon heard the struggle behind his voice and immediately packed up his things.
