I woke up, startled from a bad dream. I looked around the room to remember just how unfamiliar it was. The move from America to London wasn't easy. Leaving all my friends behind. Dad is really happy and excited for me to attend Hogwarts, as it was the school he attended as a little boy, also where he met mom.
It's not the idea of a new school that scares me, it's the idea of going to Hogwarts. With everything going around about You Know Who, it's kinda scary.
I checked the clock to see 9:00 writing boldly. I got up and my feet hit the cold stone floor. My room was quite messy. There were boxes everywhere full of stuff I still hadn't put away. I stood up and got ready. I changed into a sweater and leggings and walked down to the kitchen. Dad looked happy to see me yet he didn't say much other than good morning.
We ate breakfast together knowing it was my last meal with them for a while. Mom looked rather sad about it all. I knew she didn't want to be here either. But because of dad's work we had no choice. I got my trunk and headed to the car.
I'd never been to Kings Cross, it's was quite beautiful. Yet packed with people running around looking for their trains. Dad guided me towards platform 9 and 10. He calmly instructed me to run straight between the two platforms. There was a part of me that didn't want to listen. Forget about it all and just go back "home." Where everything was right.
I ran straight into the wall and within seconds found myself on a totally different platform; platform 9 3/4.
There were kids just like me. Some nervous, some excited. I said bye to dad and than mom. I got on the train looking for a place to sit. The train was already packed, it smelt like a cosy bonfire.I tackled my way along the train looking for a place to sit. At last, at the end of the train there was a compartment. Only 3 people sitting inside. They definitely didn't look like people who wanted to be disturbed, but I didn't really have a choice.
I quietly opened the door.
"May I sit here? The rest of the compartments are full," I said quickly.
"I guess so." Said a boy. He looked my age. He had black hair and round glasses. I sat down beside this girl, again who also looked my age. She had brown hair, and also carried a book in her hand as if it were her prize possession.
" I'm Ron, Ron Weasley" said a boy. I barely noticed he was there. He had orange hair and beautiful eyes.
" I'm Harry Potter," said the boy with the glasses.
"And that's Hermione Granger," he said pointing to the girl next to me.
" I'm Y/N, Y/n y/l/n," I said with a faint smile. They all talked to me as if they actually cared. Hermione was very interested in learning about me. Harry on the other hand looked dead like he was living his worst nightmare. They told me all about Hogwarts, the houses, the profferers and the classes. They all were going into their 5th year, just like me. It seemed as is I had already made friends. By the sound of it, all of me wanted to be in Griffindor.
Half way through the train ride I decided to go walk around and get some fresh air. It felt good seeing new faces. People I'd never seen before. It was calming, yet draining as well.
I saw with boy in the far end of the train. He stood out more than the others. He had platinum blonde hair and was dressed up in a black suit. I moved closer trying to get a better look. Then he turned around, his eyes locked in with mine. His eyes were gray, reminded me of a storm; a tornado. A pretty tornado.
He gave a me a smirk and winked. He was cute yet I found him weird. All the kids on the train were buying candy off the trolley or chatting with their friends. But this boy wasn't like them, he was mysterious. I turned around blushing and ran back to Harry, Ron and Hermione.
The train finally came to a stop. It's was dark outside. We got off the train and headed to the entrance. On the carriage ride to the entrance we met this girl named Luna Lovegood. She was very sweet and had a calming aura.
We walked up to the door. There I saw Professor McGonagall. I remember Hermione telling me about her. I walked up to her, with a smile on my face to make it seem as if I were happy."Welcome to Hogwarts," said Professor.
I smiled in honour as she led me inside leaving everyone else outside.
"Now you will have to be sorted into your house, which I hope you already know about. Since you are in 5th year, but it's your first year at Hogwarts you will be sorted along side with the first years,"We walked into the main hall were all the first years were standing in the front waiting to be sorted. The rest of the students were sitting with their houses at their house tables. Professor McGonagall left me in the middle of the crowd and went up to the front. She picked up a hat and a piece of paper and started to call up names.
Everyone was looking at me, I was at least a foot or two taller than all the first years. I felt my cheek turn red. I didn't like the attention. Everyone giggled. I spotted Hermione at what seemed to be the Gryffindor table, she was telling Harry and Ron to stop laughing. She smiled at me innocently. It was quite funny, you could easily tell I didn't fit in with the first years.
I let out a little laugh myself. I looked around the room. My eyes locked once again with the same storm eyes. I saw the boy again, the one I'd saw on the train. He wasn't laughing though, yet he just smirked and smiled a little.
"Y/n y/l/n," Professor McGonagall called out loudly, trying to speak over the laughing.
I walked my way to the front of the hall beside Professor.I sat down in the chair and held on to the sides. The hat hovered over my head and gently placed itself on my head.
