Chapter 3

Boruto returned to Konohamaru and reported the mission results.

"Good work, team 7! Take the day off, it's well earned."

Sarada and Mitsuki left to go to Thunder Burger like they planned, while Boruto talked about him leaving to train with Sasuke. They chatted, mainly about Naruto leaving to train with Jiraya.

"See you around, big bro Konohamaru."

Boruto headed out to Thunder Burger, but to his disappointment, he didn't see Sarada or Mitsuki anywhere. Boruto shrugged it off and decided to order anyway. He sat down at the table, all by himself, and started eating. Boruto thought about what would change while he was gone. He put that behind him as he left the restaurant and headed to the training grounds to get some practice in.

After many hours of constant training, draining both his strength and his chakra, he decided to go to his secret spot in the forests bordering the village. He found this spot before he tried to deface the great stone faces all that time ago. There was an open clearing, surrounded by trees with a perfect lake in the middle, reflecting the sky above him. He went home and was greeted with a full table of mom's cooking.

"Welcome back! Dad's coming home tonight!"

"Alright, Himawari."

After they ate, Boruto went back to his spot in the forest, looking at the perfect night sky. He was so busy looking at the stars that he didn't notice Sarada sit down next to him until she started talking.

"So, you're leaving, huh?"

Boruto was startled, then cleared his voice.

"Yeah, I want to get stronger. You're becoming the Hokage, so I have to get strong enough to protect you. Also... I don't want to hinder you and Mitsuki on missions. Honestly, the curse mark was really acting up when I stopped you. So... yeah."

Sarada was happy to hear this, and also sad at the same time. Boruto got up and left.

"I'm going to train more. See you around, Sarada."

Sarada sat there, her emotions practically tearing her apart inside. She sighed and looked up at the stars.

"I wonder..."

The next day they got a mission to find and return a researcher for a medical equipment company. They were accompanied by Mugino, a very well respected Jonin from Konohamaru. A couple of days later they found out they were being pursued. They all got down and were on their guard when the pursuers surrounded them. Suddenly the head of the company told them all to stand back.

They shared information and started searching again when they stumbled across a person. He slowly turned towards them, and they confirmed he was the one they were looking for. At first, he went berserk and recklessly charged at them. They realized that if they didn't stop him, he would hurt or kill them, but they didn't want to severely injure him in the process. Boruto and Konohamaru decided to use a sealing Jutsu, but it was quickly broken. Anato dashed towards Boruto, scratching him on the back of his left wrist. As Anato was about to hit him again, Mitsuki stopped him with his snake jutsu.

"Thank you, Mitsuki!"

As they were about to knock out Anato, the medical equipment people started shooting him repeatedly with weak lightning jutsus, due to the scientific research tools they had. They took Anato away and ordered them to return to the village. Begrudgingly, they did so.

Boruto was sitting at the dock, half-heartedly tossing rocks in. Sarada sat next to him and followed suit.

"Hey, Boruto-Kun. Don't be so down on yourself because of this. The medical equipment people are good people to take care of Anato."
