The alarm rang, filling the once silent room with its obnoxiously loud beeps.

"Mmmh, Gou..."

The voice jolted me awake. The whole roommate thing was still new to me. I forgot he was even here to begin with.

"Turn off your alarm....it's too early!" Ash whined. I heard sheets shuffling.

I lifted my head off my pillow and saw my phone - lit up beside my bed and beeping like crazy. I turned off the alarm and looked at the time. It was seven and my class started at nine.

I only woke up early to go to the mess since it gets pretty crowded later in the morning.

I got down from my bed and grabbed my towel from the rack before going through my closet to find some clothes to wear.

"Huh? You're going out?" I heard Ash ask. I stopped and turned to him. His eyes were half closed, but he was staring at me. Also, he was shirtless. He had the physique of a very athletic person.

Wow, even my thoughts are awkward.

"Uh, yeah. I have morning classes." I answered, turning away from him and back to looking for clothes.

"Oh..." He said faintly. I could tell he was falling back asleep. "Well... have a great first day." He said.

I finally got the clothes I wanted and looked back at him. Ash now had his body wrapped up in his blue blanket and was snoring softly.

"Yeah, you too." I said and walked out to go take a shower.

"All I'm saying is that Ash Ketchum is your roommate... you're lucky." Chloe said nonchalantly as she stabbed her fries with her fork.

It was around lunchtime now and I had come with Chloe, my childhood friend, to the cafe to have lunch. Serena still had class and would be free to hang out around five, so I was stuck with Chloe.

Not that I minded. Chloe was good company. To me, at least. To others, she is rather cold and distant, often locking herself in her room to study.

"How am I lucky exactly?" I asked her, looking up from my milkshake.

"Well, you are gay, aren't you?" She asked bluntly.

"Uh Chloe, just because I'm gay doesn't mean I'll like every guy I meet." I rolled my eyes. Chloe was the only friend who knew of my sexuality. My family knows too, but Chloe person who is not related to me that knows. Heck, even Serena doesn't know I'm gay.

"Hmm. You're right. Most guys are jerks." Chloe shrugged and sipped her tea.

"Hey, I'm a guy." I joked but frowned to put on a show.

"Admittedly, you can be a jerk at times." Chole deadpanned.

"Ah yes, I shouldn't expect any less from you, Chole. It's always so brutally honest." I cringed but managed a small smile. I'm just so fond of her to know that this is just Chloe being Chloe.

"I didn't think you expected more."

"I don't. I love you for you." I smiled, knowing that the statement would get a reaction. And it did.

Chloe blushed and looked away with a deep frown. As emotionless and cold she may present herself to be, Chloe is actually easily embarrassed. Especially by the show of affection. "Shut up, Gou."

"Hmm, can't I just appreciate my best friend?" I mused, watching as she tried to compose herself.

"I'd rather you not."

"It's not my fault you're easily embarrassed. And you pride yourself with being the campus' cold and emotionless girl."

"Shut up, Gou."

"Ah, yes. The classic shut up, Gou." I nodded nonchalantly. "Never gets old." I murmured, casting my gaze across the room, but I was totally aware of the stink eye she was giving me.

My attention was suddenly taken away from Chloe to a certain raven haired boy entering the cafe.

"Oh, look, your roommate's here." I heard Chloe say. From the tone of her voice, I could make out a slight teasing. I looked back at her, and her face proved me right.

"What are you on about?" I rolled my eyes.

Chloe shrugged. "I'm just saying. I know sexual tension when I see it."

"That's a big lie, Chloe." I said dismissively. "There is no sexual tension between"

"Sexual tension?" A new voice entered our conversation, making me shriek in shock and also because of the current topic of the conversation.

To make matters worse, it was the voice of Ash Ketchum.

Chloe and I looked up at him with differing reactions. While her eyes were slightly widened and her mouth formed a small 'o', I was on the verge of popping my eyeballs out and my jaw unhinged.

Ash stood in front of us, looking curiously. He stood there with a confident composure and his hands in his pocket. "Hey, Gou. I see you're done having lunch." Ash smiled.

"I-I-I-ah..." I struggled to form coherent sentences.

"Yeah, we were just heading out." Chloe interjected, probably realizing how hopeless I was in this situation. She began grabbing her things and signalled me with her eyes to do the same.

Chloe has scary eyes (as beautiful as they may be).

Ash looked at her, probably noticing her presence, but his smile didn't waver. "Oh hey Chloe."  He greeted her.

Chloe rolled her eyes and stood up. I followed her lead. "Yeah, yeah. Bye." She grabbed my hand and dragged me off.

"I'll see you back at the dorm." I said to Ash quickly as I was being dragged off by Chloe. Ash only managed a nod and watched, bemused as Chloe dragged me off.

Once Chloe has dragged me out of the cafe, I freed myself from her grip and spoke, "If you were someone else, I would've told you that was rude."

"But I'm not someone else, I'm Chloe. What are you gonna say?" She questioned me.

"That was rude."

"Pfft." Chloe snorted. That was the closest to her laughing. "You're an idiot."

"Ouch, Chlo, that hurts me to hear you say that." I pouted.

She shook her head. "To think you're older than me." She sighed and shook her head while I smiled. "Mind telling me what happened to you back there?"

My smile dropped. "What happened?"

"You blubbering like a fish."

"I was shocked."

"What? By his handsome face?"

"No.....by the sudden appearance of his handsome face."

"Ha, I knew it."

"I only said that because you said it....and did you just call Ash handsome?"

"Yeah. What's the matter?"

"Nothing, just so straightforward."

"I'm always straightforward... and besides, you'd be blind if you didn't notice Ash's good looks. How's the guy still single?"

I looked at Chloe with wide eyes. It was actually a rare sight to see her have the slightest interest in a guy. But more yet, Ash is single? "What?"

"What? You can't say I'm wrong." She rose a brow at me.

"I mean....no." I mumbled and looked ahead of me. How is he still single?
