"GOU!"
I would've fallen out of my bed if I wasn't so crammed back against the corner. There was enough space for me to land on when I jolted up awake.
It's been a week, and I'm still not used to having a roommate. I picked up my phone and turned off the alarm, which was probably what provoked Ash to snap.
"Why do you need that blasted alarm?" I heard him grumble and shift in his bed.
I descended from my bed and looked at the caterpillar - which was Ash in actuality wrapped tightly in his green blanket (which he changed because he spilt juice on his previous one).
"Because I have morning classes, unlike you." I sassed back and made for my closet.
"Yeah, but your class starts at nine. What's the point in waking up so early?" He said. He sounded like he was drifting off to sleep.
"Because I don't want to deal with a crowded mess. The mornings are less hectic." I answered back, though there was a little chance he actually heard it since he probably fell asleep halfway.
I grabbed my shirt for the day and turned to get my towel.
"DEAR LORD!" I screeched when I saw Ash sitting up and staring at me. "I thought you were asleep!" I exclaimed, holding my chest in an attempt to slow my panicked, beating heart.
"What did you just say about the mess?" He asked urgently.
"Uh... It's less hectic in the morning?" I said, unsure of what he was trying to get at.
"You mean it's open at this time?" He asked and got out of bed.
"Yeah." I answered, watching him pick up his towel and go to his closet. "Wait, what are you doing?" I questioned.
"Um. What's it look like? I'm going to take a bath." He laughed and walked over to the dresser to get his toothbrush. "Did you get yours, or do you plan on having bad breath all day?" He joked.
I picked up the small, red basket on the table. "Everything I have is in here."
"Ah. Well, let's go."
"If you don't mind me asking...why are you getting up early?"
"Because I'll do anything for food." Was his answered, and honestly, it convinced me.

Today was Tuesday, which meant biology - which also meant Serena. We hadn't been able to talk much since last week because she was rather preoccupied with her relationship - is what she says.
But I didn't mind because who was I to get in the way of her relationship. The least I can do is be there for her and support her.
"Sere?" I waved a hand in front of her face to catch her attention. She was in a daydream for like the third time.
She blinked back to reality and looked at me with a confused expression.
"You zoned out again." I told her.
"Oh, sorry." She giggled. "I just have so much on my mind."
"Hm, something tells me it's not the first assignment Professor Cerise has given out?" I said, watching closely for her reaction, and she did not disappoint.
"W-What?!" She cried and looked at me frantically. "Did you copy it down?!" She asked.
"I was hoping you did." I cocked my head to the side and forged a confused look.
Serena was in sheer panic mode. "Oh no! Now I'm going to fail this term then I'll fail the semester then I'll fail this year and I'll never get my degree and never graduate from University and then I won't be able to become a fashion designer and I'll be broke, poor and be alone for the rest of my life!" She dramatized. I nodded along to her words though not agreeing.
"The instruction sheet is on your table, by the way." I pointed to the paper in front of her.
Serena blinked and looked down at the paper. A fire ignited, and she turned to me to show those scorching flames. "Gou." She said, threatening me with her high-pitched voice. I wasn't as intimidated as I am supposed to be.
"Yeah?"
"I am resisting the urge to sock you in the face, but you're my best friend, and I love you."
"Why are you mad? You've been ignoring me all lesson so I had to find some form of entertainment."
Serena punched my arm lightly. "I'm not your source of entertainment." She sneered.
I chuckled and playfully rubbed my arm. "Didn't say you were."
"You implied it." She pointed out.
I rolled my eyes. "Sure, okay. But would you care to share with me why you're being so distant?"
Serena's smile slightly faltered. "Eh..." She said hesitantly.
"Come on, I'm your best friend." I urged. The secrets were making me curious by the seconds.
"Gou, I... okay, just a little won't hurt." She mumbled - more to herself than to me. "You see, he made me a little picnic by the lake this morning." She confessed with a happy smile.
"He? As in your boyfriend?" I asked.
Serena nodded, "Yup!"
"Hmm. That's really cute." I commented. This would do for now. Maybe if I keep asking her small questions like this, she'll eventually tell me who her secret boyfriend is.
"Thanks, Gou. After class he arranged a date for us outside of campus so I have to go asap."
I nodded, "Okay. Class will end in a few minutes -"
"You are dismissed!" Professor Cerise's booming voice cut me off.
"Or not." I mumbled. Serena was already on her feet, picking up her bag and ready to leave. "I guess you have a great date." I said with a small smile while I slowly packed my stuff.
"Thanks, Gou!" She squealed and ran off. I watched before her as she disappeared into the crowd.
