Sighing, I headed over to Zoe, who was still sulking in the corner and giving me the evil eye. As I approached, her expression softened and she let me sit next to her on the tiled floor.

"Ben..." she said after a long period of awkward silence. "I think it's time I admit to this."

"Admit to what?" I said, pretending not to notice how she was scooching closer to me. "How you didn't actually pass the History of Spying exam with flying colors?"

"No- not that, wait, how did you know that?" she said, face turning red multiple times over. "Never mind. I just wanted to say... I think we're not as meant to be as I thought."

My eyes slowly turned as I realized how hard this must've been for her to admit, seeing how long she'd been chasing me. "Really?" I said, blinking to make sure I wasn't dreaming. I wasn't.

"Yes," Zoe said, placing her hand on mine and quickly retracting away when I flinched. "You and Erica are... well, I guess, meant to be." her face cringed while saying these words.

Suddenly, a shadow draped over both of us, virtually stopping the light from reaching my eyes and ruining the moment.

"Actually, we aren't meant to be," Erica said, placing a hand on her hip. "For one, Ben sucks at fighting, while I'm able to disarm a secret service agent in a few seconds. Two, Ben knows there's no chance we'll be together. Don't you?"

The logical side of my body wanted to poke a trillion leaks in this statement, but the look on Erica's face said otherwise.

"I guess," I said, not wanting to admit it.
