H, I'm down at the beach x
I leave the note on the kitchen counter and head out the back doors, bikini on and towel in hand. Harry's at the studio. I think they were still revamping Golden, or possibly getting some demos recorded. I'm not sure.
This week has been the hottest I've ever known it to be in LA, and I've spent most of the week doing photo shoots and meetings, when I've really wanted to be outside.
I once again thank my lucky stars that Harry's house is connected to a beach as I make my way down the hill, the sound of the calm waves getting louder. I lay my towel down on the sand but head straight to the ocean.
It's not even cold, that's how hot it's been. The water's warm, well, until it gets past my thighs, then it feels colder. I float in the waves for a bit, enjoying the quiet after such a busy week.
I've loved every second of it though. I love the feeling of having a real job, which seems weird, because a self-made career that mainly focuses around paintings and social media probably wouldn't be considered a job in many people's eyes, but it's way more fulfilling than working at a pub.
I must give Bekah a call. I haven't heard from her in a while.
It's hard to keep up with people in different time zones, I'm learning that more and more. I phone Maggie fairly regularly, I try to call at least once a week, as I'm still enjoying learning French and don't want to lose motivation for that. It's slightly easier with her as she works in a small café every morning, which is when I'm asleep. She's taken up watercolour painting, which has been a nice common topic to talk about, and has been painting a lot of sunsets. She sends me pictures sometimes, which is nice.
It's more difficult with Bekah because, even though she could take a phone call during her shift, the people in the pub wouldn't complain, she works evenings and wakes up late, meaning we always seem to pass each other by.
She doesn't seem lonely or anything though, which I was worried about when I first moved to LA. She and Kieran, her third boyfriend now, seem to be getting on really well. Apparently they were even discussing going on holiday together soon.
I'd really like Bekah to come visit. Maybe I should see if she can fly out for the Victoria's Secret show next month? It's not like she has an avid interest in fashion shows, but she likes pretty underwear, and she'd get to see Harry perform live as well, which she enjoyed last time.
I'll chat to Harry and Sam and see if I can get her a ticket.
I start to feel a bit cold, so I get out of the water and lay in the sun, the slight breeze from the ocean brushing over my wet skin and giving me goosebumps.
We've phoned Anne a couple of times, which has been nice, and Gemma, though she's pretty busy as well, so those phone calls are less common. It's been really nice keeping up with Anne, even if she was pretty wary the first time we called her together. Harry ended up having to apologise to her like she's a spokesperson for all women. It was pretty funny to watch.
She's already invited us, well, me with Harry, back for Christmas, despite it being five months away. We'll definitely go back, we agreed pretty much instantly. I don't have anywhere else to go, really, and neither of us are particularly interested in spending the holiday just the two of us. Maybe when we start a family of our own we might have the occasional Christmas alone, but even that's unlikely.
That's another change I've noticed. Despite the rocky patch back in May, I've found myself more serious about this relationship than ever. I've stuck by my word and haven't taken the promise ring back, telling Harry I'll wait until he replaces it with a real ring. I'm not impatient for that though, I'm more than happy with how we are now.
