Officer Jeon Jungkook lazily chewed on his chewing gum as he watched the clock tick. 1...2...3... Oh, how he wished he could go home but his Superior Officer Kim Namjoon would never allow any type of slacking off. "Officer Jeon! You are a police officer. You are responsible for the safety of hundreds of people. I expect you to do your work diligently." He would say. He needs to chill.
Seriously, what's wrong with leaving a minute or two before the shift ends? It's not like someone would suddenly decide to commit murder just because he decided to leave a little early. Besides, the area he was assigned to was good. Too good that there were hardly any crimes. He didn't understand why there was even a violent crimes division in this station. Oh, how he would love to do some actual investigation. At this rate, he might as well be a patrol officer.
Fortunately, luck came in the form of attempted murder. Jungkook couldn't believe his eyes for a second when he received the files. When he realized it was real, he let out an ear-splitting 'Whoop'.
"Officer Jeon! Is that something to be happy about?"
Kim Namjoon yelled from across the room, his voice stern and commanding. Jungkook cowered in his seat under the severe glare of his superior with a meek, "No, Sir." He slowly let out his breath, careful enough to not be heard. Like I said, He needs to chill. Jungkook thought as he examined the file.
His brows knit together and he pursed his lips as he read about the accident that was supposed to be an 'attempted murder'. "This seems like a typical case of DUI, How come it's murder?"
"Read everything on the file Jungkook." He replied. Jungkook read further down. Hmmm...traces of Adderall mixed with alcohol in blood? Signs of struggle? Well, this is getting interesting, he thought as he smirks.
"Now get ready, we are going to the hospital."
"The hospital? Why?" He asked his big doe eyes wide. Namjoon sighed, rubbing his temples. This is going to be one hell of a ride.

Snap Snap Snap
"Mr.Fernandez, Mr. Robert Fernandez, Can you hear me? Are you awake?" Jungkook called snapping and waving his fingers in at the face of the unconscious victim in front of him. When his efforts bore no fruit he turned towards his superior who looked like he was done with him.
"He is not waking up." He complained as Namjoon lets out a dramatic sigh. "Of course, Jungkook, because he is in comatose.""What?"
"Coma."
"Oh... Then why are we here? We can't get his testimony."
"Just shut up and look, Jungkook," He said as he slowly moved the material near the victim's neck.
"What are you doing? That's hella creepy." Jungkook pointed out and he gave him a hard look that says, "If you don't shut up now..." and finish it with your favorite threat."Look here, do you see that handprint on his neck? It's a sign of struggle and look right there." Namjoon gestured a little further to the left. "There's the needle mark. The Adderall was probably injected into his system which is pretty dangerous." He explained and Jungkook's lips formed an O as the realization dawned on him. Feeling like a total idiot, he decided to at least pay close attention to details. After a few minutes of looking around, taking pictures, and interviewing the Victim's relatives, Namjoon ushered the younger one out of the hospital.
His mind was whirring with speculations as Jungkook drove them towards the place where the accident took place. Momentarily, he snapped out his thoughts, noticing that his ever-energetic Junior who just did not know how to shut up was eerily silent. Very unusual.
"What are you thinking about, Kookie?" Jungkook gave a quick glance towards his Sunbae. Kookie wasn't a name his superior often used especially when they were on duty. Nevertheless, he liked the affectionate name. He shrugged as he replies, "I don't really know. It's our first-ever actual case. It just feels different." He gave him a knowing smile. "It was like that for me too."
"What?"
"My first case. I didn't know half of what I do now." They fell into a comfortable silence and a few minutes later, Jungkook announced, "We're here". The two approached the wrecked car, lifting up the 'Caution. Do not enter tape'. Namjoon made his way towards the car with the younger at his heels.
"Didn't the forensic department already collect all of the evidence?'"Yes but it's best to start from the beginning. Maybe we'll find something." The superior replied as he walked around the car observing the scene.
Jungkook peered inside through the half-open back door. The car was a total wreck. He wondered how the victim even made it out alive. The windshield was completely shattered and the pieces of glass lay scattered on the floor, some stained red. The sunlight that seeped in through the cracks reflecting off of them. For a moment, Jungkook was reminded of the little kaleidoscope he had been given as a gift when he was younger. The young boy was fascinated by the different shapes and colors it would make and he would sit there staring through it for the rest of the day until eventually, he grew bored with it. He snapped out of his thoughts with an internal shake of his head and he turned to leave when he noticed a metal gleam.
"Sunbae!"
Namjoon was beside him in a flash and he pointed towards the gleaming metal under the mat. He slowly knelt beside the car and lifted the floor mat.
There lay a metal bracelet with its crystal glimmering in the sunlight in brilliant hues of blue.
A/n: Remember the bracelet? Remember who it belonged to?
