Seokjin Sunbae

Raven
I sent the evidence file to my guesthouse PC.
It should be there.
He said they didn't have anything else that
he could give me.

Moon Raven

Got it. Thanks.
I'll check it

Sure enough, there was a ding on the PC in the dining area of the Guesthouse and you rushed towards the computer. "Let's see what they've got," you muttered to yourself as you clicked on the Notification of a new email. You had asked Seokjin to let you see the evidence the forensics have collected with the influence he had in the Police department. Apparently, his cousin could only get a hold on the dashcam evidence from the file. The said cousin had particularly emphasized how much of a risk he was taking by leaking confidential information to them. You were thankful but at that time you didn't have time to think about anyone else.

You frantically drum your fingers on the table as Seokjin's email kept loading. It felt like hours when the email finally loaded but in reality, it might have been 30seconds. Raven quickly clicked on the email impatiently. There was a video file that was labeled as "dashcam evidence." And the mouse hovered over the play button in a moment's hesitation but you will yourself to click it. Turning the volume all the way up, Raven listened as the dashcam video played.

[........]

The car appeared to be parked in an isolated section near the side of an unfamiliar highway road. The place looked eerie for some reason or perhaps it was just Raven's nerves acting up in anticipation. There was no sound other than the constant chirp of crickets. It must have been past midnight. There wasn't a single soul and then there were footsteps.

Slow leisure footsteps that felt quite normal. No sign of urgency, no sign of anything abnormal. The owner of the footsteps unlocks the car and the headlights blink and the distinct sound of locks turning could be heard. The dashcam shakes a little as the person enters the car and Raven waits with bated breath. Anytime now...

[...huh? You?...]

Robert's voice echoed throughout the kitchen and Raven clenched her fists on impulse. Robert's tone indicated that he already knew the culprit. Robert didn't know Jimin, or at least she hoped but it wasn't strong enough of the evidence to prove Jimin innocent.

[......thud...haah.. ]

Raven's hands trembled as she listened to the sounds. She knew what it was. She knew all too well. After all, she had once been in his shoes.

Sounds of choking and sputtering filled the kitchen and Raven felt the bile rise to her throat. She was reminded of the horrible memories of her past but she kept listening to it. She didn't know why. Her hands won't move, her eyes won't stray away from the monitor.

And then she knew why.

There was a faint, almost inaudible beeping in the background.

BEep... beEP... BEep...beEP...

You knew that sound. You've heard it before...

A/n: Who is the culprit? Did you figure it out?
