It was wholly unnatural and overwhelmingly familiar hold Void in my arms like this. His breathing was light, but steady and his body felt solid and warm in my arms. He was running a fever. I listened to Beginning in the other room, he was talking to their coworker and assuring him that they would take care of Hoseok.
I heard the door click shut and felt Jimin coming back to check on us.
Void stiffened in my arms, his eyes opening as Jimin stepped into the room. His eyes were dark, wild, and unseeing, his face flushed and warm.
"Leave him alone! Go away! You hurt him! Hurt him, hurt him, hurt, hurt, hurt." Void cried, clutching my hands to him, pulling me closer as if to hide me behind him.
"Void?" Jimin whispered, concern tainting the tone of his voice.
"No, no, no, no," Void was upright, rocking back and forth. "Hurt hurt hurt hurt."
I was so close to him, but it was as though he couldn't see or hear either of us. "Void," I put my arms around him and pulled him into my lap, cradling his head into my neck. "We're okay, I'm okay, you're okay."
Void trembled in my hold, mumbling a phrase over and over. "Hurting the tree, hurting me, hurting the tree, hurting me."
I couldn't help the emotions that rose in my throat, Jimin had rushed from the room, I didn't know what he was doing, but I needed him behind me. Void's body followed the sound of Jimin's steps and he thrashed in my arms until he was facing the door. This fever was affecting Void in a terrifying way. I wasn't sure if it was the fever that brought it on or the other way around.
Jimin was at my side, a glass of water and a damp cloth in his hands. "Hold him still."
I held him as tightly as I could, crying softly into his shoulder. The painfully familiar phrase continued to fill the air, even as Jimin wiped at his face with the cloth and brought the glass to his ever moving lips.
"Do you think splashing the water in his face would help?" Jimin wondered all too seriously.
I choked out a laugh, but Jimin frowned. "I'm serious, if he snaps out of it that would be worth it, but I'm not about to throw water at his face for nothing."
"We have no other ideas." I admitted.
Jimin was flinching, peering out at Hoseok from beneath squinted eyelids. And he splashed the water out in Hoseok's general direction.
A lot of it splashed into his face, dripped down his eyelashes and over his lips, but the rest went over his head and onto my hair.
Jimin looked up worriedly, handing me the washcloth and taking Hoseok's face into his hands. "Hobi?"
Hoseok looked up then, blinking water out of his eyes as I wiped at his forehead.
"Jimin?"
"Yeah, its me. How are you feeling?"
Hoseok pouted his lips, "A little hungry, my head feels heavy. Shaky."
Jimin nodded, relief slipping out in a soft sigh. "Changkyun brought you porridge, can you let Yoongi hold you til I have it warmed up?"
Hoseok looked behind him, somehow not aware of the arms that were completely encompassing him. He hummed, smiling lazily. "End."
"Yeah I'm here." I managed. I don't know how Jimin was so quick to be comfortable, but I was still questioning everything that had happened over the past few days, my nightmare at the forefront of my thoughts. I needed to push the blame onto something and I wanted so badly to blame Hoseok, but it appeared something was affecting him as well. Answers would have to wait.
