Friday, December 1st

Millie dropped the last cents into another full jar and gave it to Finn.
"Our last pay check to get us out of here."
"We've got it pretty filled up," he said leaving it on the side, next to the other two jars.
"And it was all my idea!" She smiled and Finn frowned. "What? I came up with the sales."
"And I was there to encourage people to come,"
"Finn you weren't even there half the time! Or if you were, you would be on your phone!"
"Can you calm down for a minute and check how much money there is?"
"One thousand nine hundred and twenty dollars, thirty two cents."
"How do you know so quick?"
"I count the money at the end of every sale. Anyways, is this enough?"
"Yeah, but I need to speak to you." Her eyes went wide and she started to worry.
"What about?" She mumbled.
"It's nothing bad, it's just that...we need to be more considerate of what's going to happen when we get to Costa Rica. We would need new ID's new names and things we haven't really though of. That's just under two thousand dollars, we'll probably get by for a month then we'll start loosing money."
"You'll have a small job by then I think so..Anyways, who's going to pay much attention to two young kids." She said trying to be reassuring. "We'll stay at a cheap hotel first, then probably a guest house then maybe we'll have enough money to get our own house."
"Yeah but... You can't get really good paying jobs with no education. What will we do then?"
"We'll..." she thought, "We'll just have to make something else up! Starting a business isn't that hard is it?" Finn stuttered.
"A business?!— Where's a business going to come from!"
"I have more savings to invest don't worry!"
"Okay Millie, but I can't do much to help, I don't have much experience myself. Good luck with whatever your planning..."
"If people can make a lot of money cleaning rich people's houses, why not make a cleaning service? It'll be easy peasy! Watch!"
"What if people are crazy? You never know Millie."
"Finn— we run into crazy people everyday! I'm sitting next to one right now," She nudged him and giggled. "Don't worry, I'll be fine." She sat up to kiss him on the cheek as they went on with speaking until Millie had to go.

It was eight when she got back. Already from outside, she could hear loud voices coming from the inside of the house. Main topic: Money. She tried to sneak in peacefully but was not successful and only drew more attention to herself. Her dad, who was on the couch slouched over with a beer in his hand turned his head to Millie.
"Do you realise what time it is?" He asked but she didn't look up. "It's eight o'clock! Eight! Can I not trust you anymore to walk yourself home from school without slagging off with any guys from your class? Your a right whore! Staying up at this time of the night with your mates, having sex with other guys all night long!" Tears made Millie's vision all blurry, word after word being thrown at her. "What's his name, uh- Finn! Is he the one setting you up to this?" He walked up to her. "I forbid you from going to see him, actually- After school come straight home or you'll see what happens.." Before she could get a word out, he swung his fists round Millie's face knocking her to the wall. She hadn't been used to getting hit before so she looked up at him, fear written all over her face, tears pouring down her hot cheeks.
"How are you going to hit your own daughter!" She broke down crying, making an attempt to run out the door but Millie's dad grabbed her by the hair throwing her to the ground.
"Stop it!" Her mom said running down the stairs! "Don't you dare touch her again like that! You do that again..." her mom stepped in front of her, even though she was scared herself. He laughed and stepped up close to her face.
"Or what?" With the beer bottle her swung it round her head knocking her out, blood staining her hair. He grabbed Millie by the arm but she managed to kick him away, running into the kitchen. She threw anything at him that was at arms reach until he caught up with her pulling her by the hair again. As much as she clawed and scratched at his face and arms he wouldn't let go.
"Stop squirming you little bitch!" He raised a fist up to her, she was pinned to the ground as she grabbed a glass bottle whacking him across the head, him falling to the ground. She got up and curled into a ball in the corner. To afraid to move or wake up her mom. Instead she crawled to the door and ran out all the way back to Finns house. Running up the endless flight of stairs until she got to his apartment. Her cheek was all red and badly bruised from where she had been hit. She collapsed into Finns arms as he opened the door, crying in his arms..

I didn't actually plan for this to happen I was just like...We should have a scene where Millie's home life is brought up and then I got a bit carried away writing. It still turned out good though so I'm not complaining!
