Nightmare canonically has issues with nightmares and insomnia.
My headcanon is that, he can and will stay up for days on end, the longest being 6 days straight.
Whenever he has more of the intense ones, where he, canonically, has a nightmare about Dream killing his friends and people he cares about, he ends up waking up and sobbing, though being silent all the while.
