All the lights were on me. I held a microphone in my hand and I wore a sparkling stage outfit. I looked at the audience surrounding me. They were all there to watch my performance. The sounds of cheering filled my ears, Sweat dripped down my flushed cheeks. My fans repeatedly screamed my name over and over until it became one voice.
"Yeosoon! wake up."
I slowly open my eyes, only to find myself back in the dorm. I jumped at the sight of San's face right in front of mine. I threw my pillow at him and buried my face under the covers.
"Why did you wake me up. I was having such a good dream." I said.
My quilt was ripped off me, Wooyoung was standing over me. "Was you dreaming about me?" He said in a flirty tone.
I just glared at him. I was now used to his quirky antics, He flirted with me just to make Yeosang mad. And I guess you could say it worked.
"Our schedule starts again today. And you have to come to practice with us." San stated.
I sat up and rubbed my eyes. "Can you two get out." Seonghwa said as he walked through the door. "Go and wash up." The boys followed his orders, Wooyoung winking at me on his way out.
"You need to wash up too, and put some comfy clothes on." He said.
I put my head in my hands "I think this rule is stupid. What could possibly go wrong when I'm by myself?"
Seonghwa walked over to my bed and leaned on the frame. His eyes sparkling as he looked at me. "He's just worried about you. Don't forget that he was once all alone when he moved here. Yeosang didn't have anyone to help support him, only Wooyoung who isn't much help. He probably just doesn't want you to go through the same struggles."
It frustrated me, He was so right and yet I still felt underestimated.
"Stop over-thinking and go and get ready." He giggled at me and left the room.
...
Boredom. That's how I felt throughout the rest of that day. I just sat and watched as they practiced the same routines over and over again. I would sometimes ask if I could join but Yeosang would cut me off. I got the feeling that he was a bit mad at me still. I sat and read my book for hours on end. Sometimes I would go on my phone or wonder around the building. It was a truly amazing place to be.
As I lay on the practice room floor I suddenly feel a presence sit next to me. "Are you okay?" The owner of the voice was Seonghwa. I sat up and gave him a small smile. Obviously, not convincing enough.
"You must be really bored right?" He asked.
"That's an understatement, Although I do like watching you dance." I replied.
He responded with a chuckle. "Can I ask you something?" I asked.
He looked at me again with his big eyes. "Anything"
"What does ateez mean to you?" I questioned.
He looked forward and rested his head on the back of the wall. "Wow, I wasn't expecting that kind of question." He paused for a moment before looking at me again. He was dripping with sweat, his hair almost wet and his clothes began sticking to him. Seonghwa glanced at his members and smiled.
"When we were first put together, we were nothing but a group of boys who dreamed of a debut. But now we are a family, they are my brothers." His gaze was back on me. "You will get that one day." He smiled.
Yeosang came up to us, breathing heavily and drenched in sweat. Seonghwa handed him His water and he began to drink it. "What are you two talking about?" he asked.
"Nothing, How is everything going?" I replied.
"Perfect. Although we will have to leave you here alone for a bit will that be okay?" He said.
"Of course, don't worry about me."
Seonghwa scuffed up my hair and stood up. Eventually, all of them left and I was alone. I got up and connected my phone to the speaker, I played the song 'Don't wanna cry' by seventeen and stood in front of the mirrors, counting the beats to the music. My whole body felt the rhythm and began dancing the song's choreography. I had learned it in my bedroom when it first came out. I watched myself in the mirror and monitored my facial expressions and composure. Every move that needed to be was sharp and each step was on the right beat.
I was so immersed throughout the whole 3 minutes that I didn't realise that the boys had returned and was watching my every move. As soon as I spotted them I rushed to turn the music off and sat back in my spot. It took all my will to avoid eye contact, Every millisecond that passed by I could feel my ears get redder.
The next thing I knew Wooyoung sat opposite me with a grin on his face. "You looked pretty sexy dancing there, Yeosoon." I kept my head down until I heard an "Ow!" Escape Woo's lips. Yeosang had wacked him on the head.
"Watch it." He warned. Then he looked at me, but he wasn't angry. Only empathy filled his eyes.
"You didn't tell us you could dance." Yunho said.
"Didn't you say you had to go somewhere? You weren't even gone for 2 minutes." I said ignoring his comment.
"We only went to get lunch for you." Mingi said, raising a bag of food. "We felt bad that you had to watch us all day."
I looked up at them all. I was grateful for them. It had only been a few weeks since I had met them and yet they treated me as if they had known me for years. I looked back up at my brother, the look in his eyes bothered me. It was as if he felt sorry for me and that made me feel guilty.
