SAM POV
"Look, I appreciate everything but I should get going."
I smiled kindly at Nathan and stood up, carrying my now empty plate over to the sink.
"Look Sam, I'm not an idiot, I know something is going on. I can't just let you leave, not after last night."
I didn't respond to him, instead rinsing the plate that I'd just eaten from and reached for a towel to dry it off.
"Come on Sam! You can't just expect me to let you leave without any answers."
I placed my hands against the counter top, staring out of the window, back still turned from Nathan.
"My parents aren't going to be back for a few days. You can stay here."
I bit my lip and turned around to face him.
"I appreciate it. Really, I do..."
I smiled sweetly at him, watching his face also morphe into one of happiness.
"But I can't."
I didn't wait for Nathan's response as I swiftly left his house, shutting the front door behind me.
Eli still hadn't called me back to talk to me about what had happened the other night. I was hoping he'd tell me something about it because in all honesty, I didn't remember a single thing. However due to the amount of Nathan's concern, perhaps it was better that way. Did I even want to remember anything?
My parents were both out. I had no clue where but as long as they weren't harassing me, I didn't care where they had gotten themselves off to anyway. I often tried to put as much distance between us as physically possible. That way I didn't end up hurt.
"Eli, it's me I really need to see you."
I hung up, hoping that he'd listen to my voicemail message. And the seven others that I'd left. I really wanted to see him. More specifically I really wanted some drugs.
I sat on my bed, staring at my phone from my seated position, leg bouncing up and down. My elbows were resting on my knees, palms holding up my chin as I bit my lip anxiously.
"Please answer, please answer...."
I whispered quietly to myself, as if those words would make a difference somehow.
I stood up and groaned loudly, shaking out my body in hopes to shake off some of my anxiety too.
"Come on Eli!"
I cried out.
He had to pick up. He had to help me. I had nowhere else to go.
Suddenly the phone rang and I literally jumped over to it.
Eli
Yes!
A huge wave of relief washed over me as I picked up the vibrating phone and placed it to my ear.
"Hi."
I breathed out with a sigh.
"What is it Sam?"
Eli responded with his usually bored tone. I had come to learn that it didn't mean that he was annoyed at me but this was just Eli being Eli. There was nothing alarming or to worry about from that response.
"I really need you......"
Silence.
"Please can I come-"
