As you did every Friday night, you and your girlfriend settled down onto the sofa with one of the many films that you had wanted to watch for a while and never gotten around to it. Even though you were both young adults and could spend your nights out drinking and partying, but you both preferred getting under a blanket and watching a film. You held a large bowl of microwaved popcorn whilst Rosa wrapped an arm around you, letting you rest your head onto her shoulder.
The film started as did the popcorn eating but it didn't last long as a ringing mobile phone distracted you both from the screen. You tried to ignore it but once the ringing ended it soon started again. Rosa gave you an apologetic smile as she checked her mobile to see her sisters name on the screen.
"I'll be back in a minute," she sighed, unlooping herself from you to excuse herself from the room to take the phone call.
You couldn't hear what she was saying, nor did you want to pry into the conversation, but you couldn't help but worry a little. Rosa didn't talk to her sister too often. They didn't have an overly close relationship but weren't on bad terms meaning phone calls weren't a common occurrence and certainly never unplanned.
It had barely been a minute before Rosa was back in the room, holding onto her mobile.
"What's wrong?"
Rosa wasn't the easiest person to read but it didn't take a genius to see the concern on her face but there was little past that to be seen.
"My mum is in the hospital," she said quietly. "I don't know what happened, but she said that she can't get there so I said I'd go."
You scrambled to your feet. "I'll drive you."
Rosa shook her head. "It's okay, you can finish the film."
You rested a hand onto her arm to get her to focus on you. Although you knew she wouldn't show her panic or concern outwardly, you knew that she was worried about her mum and you wanted to be there for her were you could.
"I'll drive you to the hospital," you insisted. "You don't need to worry about driving and I want to be there to help you, so no matter how much you argue, I am going to drive you there.
She was going to argue but she just wanted to get there now and not delay getting to her mothers' bedside to see what was going on.
