Jealousy wasn't exactly a becoming trait for anyone.

It could make things awkward in a relationship, make things difficult and potentially even be the be all end all of a relationship.

You'd never quite thought that jealousy was necessarily a bad thing in small doses but of course it should never get to the point where it ruined anything.

You and Jake had been together for just over six months and of course it hadn't been perfect, but all things considered it had been pretty great.

That day you'd agreed to meet Jake at the precinct, but when you'd gotten there, he was nowhere to be seen.

One of his colleagues, Rosa, had let you come and sit at his desk whilst you waited.

"Do you know where he is?" you asked her as she'd decided to stand and wait with you.

She shook her head. "He went out with our new rookie to get some stuff, I thought he'd be back by now but apparently not."

"New rookie?" you questioned out of confusion as Jake hadn't mentioned anyone new starting at the precinct.

"Hmm," Rosa stated as she nodded the affirmative. "She's pretty fresh out of training, not quite used to us yet but Captain wants us to be nice to her."

You laughed not being able to imagine Captain Holt being nice to anyone new.

"Apparently she knows Kevin's family," you nodded at the mention of Captain Holt's husband. "Holt just doesn't want us to make her cry."

Just as you were about to respond to Rosa, you heard rather girlish giggling and your boyfriend's loud laugh.

In walked Jake with presumably the new rookie who was smiling up at him rather adoringly.

Rosa scoffed as did you, and when Rosa looked down at you, she saw you fixing the rookie with what could only be seen as daggers.

"Y/N!" your boyfriend exclaimed as he saw you sat at his desk.

You smiled at him but didn't miss the way the rookie's gaze settled on you, and she didn't look the least bit impressed.

Jake reached you and held out a takeaway cup of coffee to you. "I was planning on giving you this when you got here, didn't think you'd be here before me."

Laughing you took the coffee cup from him, and then tried to subtly stake your claim on him by intertwining your fingers with his.

The rookie noticed this; a grimace passed over her face but then she fixed her eyes on Jake.

"I didn't know you were meeting anyone here Jake, I thought we could go for dinner with everyone," she mildly complained at him and you knew she didn't want 'everyone' there.

You stood up, still holding your coffee in one hand and Jake's hand in the other.

Jake moved to put his arm around your shoulder, pulling you into his side.

"Oh, so sorry, you somewhat fakely apologised to the rookie. "But Jake and I already have plans."

The rookie e scoffed as she looked at you. "Well surely you can rearrange, shouldn't his work be more important?"

You didn't miss the tone in her words, but when you went to respond, Jake beat you to it.

"Sorry newbie, maybe we'll have dinner with everyone another time."

And with that, Jake said goodbye to both the rookie and Rosa and quickly whisked you out of the precinct.

Once you were outside Jake burst into laughed before kissing you gently. "You jealous is definitely an entertaining sight."

You scoffed, mock glaring at him. "I was not jealous."

He chuckled, kissing you again before taking your hand. "Sure, you weren't baby, sure you weren't."

"I wasn't!"

"So, what was the whole fake girl act then huh? Trying to bury her 6 foot under with your stare?"

Even though Jake was joking with you, you still felt a bit disgruntled at how the rookie was acting with him, but you'd never had any reason to worry.

Jake gently held your chin in his hand to make you look at him. "No rookie is going to turn my head baby," he reassured you. "But you being jealous is pretty hot!"
