Logan had no idea what he was going to do. He knew that he needed to tell his parents and his fiance, but how?
Two days had gone by since he saw Rory get into that town car outside The Ivy. He had been two seconds away from hopping in there with her, but he knew that wouldn't have solved anything.
He had been trying to come up with a way to break it to Odette, as she was currently staying in London. He tried, or at least that's what he told himself, but each time his breath hitched in his throat and the words wouldn't come out.
With thoughts swirling in his head, Logan failed to see his father walk right into his office.
"Logan," he was interrupted by hearing his name.
"Dad? What are you doing here?" he asked, standing up to shake his dad's hand.
"I can't come see my own company? Or my only son?" Mitchum quipped.
"You didn't tell me you would be coming, just a surprise, that's all."
Logan sat back down at his desk, his father following suit with the chairs on the other side.
"I'm just going to cut to the chase, are you seeing Rory?"
Logan's eyes nearly popped out of his head. How did he know?
"You don't need to deny it, I know you had dinner with her the other night. I also know that you went to Stars Hollow a few months ago when you said you needed a break. So let me just ask you one thing. What are you doing, Logan?"
That was the million dollar question.
Well now was as good of a time as any, "Dad, she's pregnant."
He let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding, waiting for his father's response.
Mitchum was silent. Logan was sure he was just stewing, trying to think of more ways he could call his son an idiot.
"Okay. I'll call Odette's family and let them know the wedding is off."
"What?" Logan was sure he had misheard him.
"I mean that's what you want right? So you can be with Rory?"
"Rory doesn't want to be with me," his voice was sad but clear.
"Well what do you want to do?" Mitchum quizzed.
"That's the thing, I don't know."
"So you're telling me that your ex-girlfriend, whom you once proposed to, is out there, pregnant with your baby, and you're telling me you don't know what you want to do?" Mitchum narrowed his eyes at his son in disbelief.
Logan shifted uncomfortably in his chair, "I figured you would want me to be here. Stick with the plan."
"If you thought that then you really are an idiot,"
Logan was so confused at his father's words.
"Are you kidding me? You never liked Rory and you had no trouble setting me up with a french heiress as soon as I came back to work for you in London. How could I not think that?" Logan had started to get angry.
"I liked Rory. She was good for you. And don't even throw that in my face, you had the option to back out of that, no one forced you to be with Odette."
"Oh yeah, and risk being the family disappointment, again. I went along with it to make you and mom happy,"
"Logan, listen," Mitchum softened, "If you aren't happy here, tell me. Son, you're 35. You aren't getting any younger,"
