This writing is not intended as a critique of the people or the parenting of my childhood. The behaviors I've described were typical and acceptable for the times. This is the world I grew up in. Never underestimate the importance of having fun, even when crap happens. Fun is truly existence's essential element. Now, there's a lesson worth learning.
