Derek POV
I am laying on the bench, my head in Stiles lap as he tells me I am ok and runs his fingers through my hair. How we got this way I am not even sure but I am not complaining. My inner wolf purring.
My heart rate is slowing and I am coming back down to normal.
He looks down at me smiling.
"Well, I can tell you I've never caused that reaction to anyone before." He says.
I clear my throat. I look at him smiling.
"Wow, Derek is that a smile." He jokes.
I sit up looking at him with mock hurt.
"I have feelings you know." I joke.
We both laugh, it's a nice sound.
We spend the day talking and getting to know each other. I invite Stiles back to my place for dinner and he gladly accepts.
I explain dinner at my house would probably consists of take out because I was a horrible cook, he laughs, that sound is gorgeous. He offers to cook dinner for me sometime, which makes me blush.
I see Stiles blue jeep in my rear-view mirror as I head to my house. I am slightly taken back by my boldness but it felt nice to spend some time with someone who isn't a wolf.
We make it to my house; I give him the tour and proceed to order pizza.
Stiles POV
I pull up to Derek's house, it's beautiful. Bigger than I expected for just him.
He gives me the tour. Four bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms. Living room, study, and office. I am surprised at how clean and organized everything seems to be. I note the one door we don't go behind; I am assuming that is Derek's bedroom. He sees my gaze, and confirms that is his bedroom. I blush a bit, wondering what his room is like.
He gestures to the couch in the living room and asks what kind of pizza I like. I say pepperoni is fine. He gives me a smile and heads to the kitchen to make a phone call to the pizza place.
I'm sitting on a large couch, room for four people, it is soft and comfortable. The living room has a hint of vanilla and cinnamon. I look around and notice pictures of Derek and I am assuming his family. I have never seen his family, but I do know the story. I remember my dad talking about it and how tragic it was.
Derek walks in frowning at me.
"Are you ok?" He asks.
Derek POV
I am in the kitchen, I just ordered pizza and I am trying to regain my confidence.
I feel it, a wave of sadness. It isn't my sadness though it's Stiles. Confused I head into the living room, he's staring at a picture of me with my parents.
"Are you ok?' I ask.
"Yeah, I am ok." He says siting back on the couch.
"Where did you get this couch, it has to be the comfiest thing I've ever put my butt on." He says bouncing on the cushion.
His sadness is gone. I'm standing there watching Stiles bounce. He is so stupid, but I'm laughing.
We continue enjoying each other's company late into the night.
We ended up trying to watch all the Harry Potter movies. We are on the third one and I hear light snoring coming from Stiles it makes me chuckle. He's leaning on my shoulder; I don't want to bother him but I am unsure if he wants to stay or go.
"Stiles." I whisper.
He looks up at me with those whiskey colored eyes and my breath catches in my throat.
"Hey." He says warmly.
I smile and say "I am cool if you want to stay the night, I just didn't know if you needed to head home or not."
He's looking at me, thinking.
"I can stay, but let me call my dad so he does not worry." He says through a yawn.
I watch him head towards the bathroom.
I have no idea what I am thinking but now Stiles is spending the night.
Stiles POV
I head to the bathroom my head swimming. I close the door and lock it for good measure. I take a breath and look into the mirror.
"Stiles you are spending the night." I say to mirror Stiles with a grin.
I pull my phone out and dial the station. My dad had a bad habit of forgetting to check his phone.
"Noah Stilinski, how can I help you?" He says.
"Hey Dad!" I say.
"Stiles, are you ok?" He asks worried
"Yeah dad I am great. I was just calling to let you know I wouldn't be home tonight." I say.
"Great, huh? Where are you staying?" Noah asks.
I explain to him who Derek was and how we met and that he offered to let me stay because it was late.
"Yeah, I remember Derek, he's a good kid. Just be careful and please call me if you need anything." He says.
I hang up with my dad. I was surprised how easy that was, but I remember that my dad use to be good friends with Peter, and maybe they still were. So, he was familiar with the Hale family.
Derek was a hard nut to crack; I could tell he had a wall up. I saw some glances behind it but as soon as he would get comfortable, he would put that wall right back up. He was going to be a challenge, but I like hard work.
