Derek POV
At some point early in the morning I finally fell asleep. I heard rummaging in the kitchen, which startled me at first but then I remember Stiles and smiled. He was making me breakfast.
I laid there a bit longer collecting my thoughts, every so often I would hear Stiles humming as he cooked. It was comforting. I was so confused. My wolf was overjoyed.
I hit the bathroom and then headed out to the kitchen not bothering to put a shirt on since I am sure Stiles got an eye full last night anyway. My head is aching and the bacon frying smell is making my mouth water.
"Hey sleepy head breakfast is almost done and here take this." He says as he hands me a cup of coffee.
I take the coffee gladly and sit myself at the bar, wondering what kind of wizardry is going on. He cooks, and makes me coffee and finds everything.
As I finish my coffee, I realize that A: Stiles has to be a wizard and B: This might be the start of something.
"Not much of a talker in the mornings, are you?" Stiles asks putting a plate of food in front of me.
I grunt as I shove a fork full of eggs in my mouth.
Stiles laughs.
We enjoy our breakfast in silence.
After a while I notice Stiles staring at me
"What?" I say curious.
"Nothing. You are just beautiful." He says.
I felt the blush on my cheeks and I knew it was time for Stiles to go.
I couldn't deal with the emotions swirling in my brain.
I began to rush around and explained to Stiles that I had some work to do and that he could text me later if he wanted to. He seemed to get the idea and after about five minutes he had left.
Stiles POV
"STUPID, STUPID, STUPID." I yell.
I am sitting in my jeep getting ready to go home. I should not have said that to Derek, but I was not lying. He was beautiful.
I knew I hit a nerve though and I should have picked my words better or just not even have gone there. Being the detective that I am, I know that someone close to Derek has hurt him. He is very guarded. He also misses his family very much.
A sting he was all too familiar with. After losing his mom, he knows what it's like to have a hole you cannot fill.
Stiles was cursing himself the whole way home. He wasn't usually the one to come on so strong but he felt out of control near Derek. He wanted to save him. He wanted to protect him.
My dad sometimes has Sunday's off so I wasn't surprised to see his car in the driveway. I walked into the house and sat at the kitchen table putting my head on the table.
"Stiles, are you ok?" Peter and my dad ask.
"Oh, uh yeah. Hey Pete, what are you doing here?" I ask noticing the open bottle of wine.
Peter smiles sheepishly while saying "Oh I am just visiting."
My brain is slowly working and I think I've gotten it but really?? My dad and Peter. I mean he could do a lot worse but I never saw that coming.
"I did not mean to interrupt." I say gesturing to the wine.
My dad won't look me in the eye, is he embarrassed?
Sensing the tension, I tell them I am just going to change and go for a run.
I get back into my jeep and head to the park, hoping to not waste the day even if I would rather be spending it with someone.
