It was fair to say that the Briggs house with neither quiet nor relaxed after Mr Witherstone's visit. As Maggie promised, she was currently filing a report with LPS, and just as when Mr Witherstone had been here, Alex's cries were fuelling her anger.
"I do not want him on my property ever again! I do not want him to be involved in Alex's care EVER again. I do not-"
"Ma'am, I am reporting this incident as we speak. At LPS we pride ourselves on having understanding and compassionate workers, and this worker's actions do not meet our standards." The man on the other end of the phone finally got a chance to speak.
"Oh." Maggie was prepared to have to argue her point to get what she wanted, so the man already reporting it was a surprise.
"If you can tell me exactly what happened, we can get a full report sent to the disciplinary board, and if you give me your contact information, I can let you know the final decision.
"Oh, um, I, I was expecting to have to argue with you," Maggie said sheepishly, suddenly feeling quite embarrassed.
"I understand ma'am, but in this case, there is no grey area to the argument, the worker acted inappropriately, and a little was further traumatised through his actions."
It took Maggie a couple of minutes to calm herself, the pent-up anger had nowhere to go, but soon enough she was relaying the morning's events over the phone.
Upstairs, Alex had just cried to herself to sleep, swaddled in a blanket in Danni's arms. Danni was happy that the girl had stopped crying, but it was disappointing that she had only stopped because she fell asleep. Danni looked down at the sleeping girl, carefully wiping away the tear tracks on her face as Alex snuggled further into the blanket. Now, Alex was asleep Danni let out a sigh of relief when they had found Alex the day before, it was only going to be for one night, LPS were going to take her in the morning, and Maggie and Danni would go back to their normal life. Unfortunately, they hadn't included love in that equation. Alex may not have said much, done very much, and played very much, but the women were falling in love with her and weren't quite sure if they could let her go.
"You were so tired huh? And that nasty old man made you upset" Danni cooed at Alex, stroking her softly as she moved in her sleep.
"I'm going to lie you on the bed darling, I'll stay with you so you can stay snuggled up."
As Danni laid Alex down on the bed, the blanket loosened causing Alex to let out small whimpers of upset and desperately grab at the blanket to provide comfort.
"Oh I know, I'm so mean baby" Danni re-swaddled the girl and laid next to her, smoothing her hair as Alex fell back into a deep sleep. Alex nuzzled into Danni's side, puckering her lips as if she was searching for something, and then frowning as she didn't find what she wanted. The whimpers started up again, getting louder as her search remained fruitless.
"Hey hey baby, it's alright, come here." Danni pulled Alex closer and rubbed her face, though she was surprised when Alex caught one of her fingers and began to suckle on it. Danni attempted to remove her finger from Alex's mouth, but Alex just suckled harder, refusing to give up.
"Alright darling, you keep suckling" Danni relented, choosing to pull Alex closer again and fall asleep to the sound of Alex's small snores.

Half an hour later Maggie had finished her phone call, and when entering her bedroom, found what she would always refer to as "the cutest sight in history". Danni was lying on her back fast asleep, Alex was messily swaddled in a grey fluffy blanket lying almost completely on top of Danni, suckling on Danni's fingers gently in her sleep. Maggie couldn't help but take a photo, immediately setting it as her phone screen. Not wanting to wake them up, she backtracked out of the bedroom and went downstairs to start making lunch.
A while later she heard the stairs creaking, and soon enough her girlfriend appeared in the kitchen, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
"Afternoon" Maggie grinned, hugging her closely.
"Please tell me you've made food, I'm starving" Danni mumbled, leaving the hug to peer over Maggie's shoulder, smiling when she saw a plate of sandwiches.
"Well I'm not just here for my good looks" Maggie scoffed, pecking Danni on the cheek before moving past her.
"You start on the sandwiches, I'll wake Alex."
Maggie had timed it perfectly, just as she reached the bedroom, Alex began to wake up. She opened up her eyes, blinking slowly as she noticed her surroundings. Alex began to smack her lips again, searching for something to suckle on.
"Looks like I have a baby on my hands huh" Maggie smiled, making sure Alex could always see her as she walked up to the bed.
"Good afternoon ladybird, do you want to have some lunch?" The woman asked, scooping Alex and the blanket up into her arms.
Though Alex had woken up very deep in headspace, memories of the morning flooded back, forcing her onto the edges of headspace.
"What, what happened?" Alex mumbled, trying to look around the room.
Maggie was surprised that Alex was out of her headspace, and it took a minute to adjust her way of thinking before talking to Alex again.
"My girlfriend and I found you last night in an alley. You agreed to us bringing you home, we had dinner, you had a bath and then went to sleep. This morning we had a visit from a man from LPS, but he was really mean so we sent him away. You had a nap with Danni, and now it's time for lunch" Maggie explained, carrying Alex downstairs and to the kitchen where Danni was waiting.
"Huh," Alex said. She had assumed that she would stay out of headspace for the rest of the day, but it turns out if you're carried everywhere in a blanket, snuggle with someone for a nap, and then get fed sandwiches, being big is the last thing on your mind.
