In the small town of Busan lives a twenty-five year-old hatter by the name of Park Jimin. He is a peculiar man, often keeping to himself. His hermit ways are the root of many controversies. As a man approaching his thirties living alone with only hats to talk to, many gossip that the raven is secretly a mage and that his hair is the source of his power, explaining why he wears it fashioned in a single braid with his bangs hanging out the front. Because of these hollow rumors, a lot of people change to opposite sides of the road when they see him, not wanting the black cat to cross their path.
Jimin is aware of the town's unease towards him. He simply believes that it is due to what he sees as his ghastly appearance. It is the reason he's an orphan, he tells himself, justifying his parents' wish to dispose of him as a baby. Haven given up on the prospect of being loved, Jimin dresses as an old man with his round, wire framed glasses, and wishes for the day when his appearance will matter less to his peers and his introverted personality will be the norm and no longer the subject of young children's dark fantasies.
Despite his situation, Jimin often finds himself talking to various inanimate objects in his workspace and the loft above the hat shop. He talks of adventure, beauty, and romance. All of this is but a dream to him. Sometimes, Jimin even wishes to be called beautiful. But that will never happen, he tells himself.
So he wears a mask.
Author's Note: What a short prologue. I hope this story has piqued your interest and that you will stay with me for the rest of it. The update schedule will most likely be random since I have another story. I don't really amass reads anyway, so I don't think I will be letting anybody down. Feel free to comment or PM me asking for an update. It doesn't bother me. Just don't leave it on my message board because that could cover things that I want to share with the few people that visit my account.
