Chapter One

"Now Aguero, darling, you need to ensure you make a good impression tonight. Look smart, look sharp, be on time."

Khun gritted his teeth listening to the sickening tone of his mothers voice coming through his mobile phone.

"Oohh, maybe you should get her some flowers or a gift or something. Something expensive! Ah, I'm so excited."

Only half listening to his mother, Khun sat at his work desk flicking through paperwork.

"I'm so proud of you, Aguero. Finally, finally you will be acknowledged by the family. Your father will be so happy, now he will acknowledge us!"

Hearing the excitement in his mother's voice irritated him and he was close to hanging up.

"Mother I really need to get back to work."

"Of course, of course darling. Just remember, be on time and make a good impression."

"Yes, yes, I'll see you later."

Khun sighed as he placed his head in his hands, wondering if he had made the right choice.

Now in his early twenties, Khun Aguero Agnes was an extremely eligible bachelor.  Not only was he from the famous Khun bloodline, he had exceptional intellect and talent.

His one downfall, according to his mother, is that they were not acknowledged by the main family.

Khun's mother was actually one of the many mistresses of Khun Edahn who had fathered many children.

Because of this, there were many children always fighting and vying for Eduan's attention, hoping they would be acknowledged and given a right to use the Khun name proudly.

Having been harassed by his mother for years, Khun had finally decided that now was the time to follow her wishes.

He had nothing better to do anyway.

See, Khun had absolutely zero interest in his family heritage however, he had a lot of respect for his father who had built a business empire from scratch. Although he didn't exactly approve of his father's personal life choices - Let's just say he couldn't count the number of siblings he had even if he used all of his fingers and toes.

His mother had always been desperate to please the head of the Khun family, she would constantly attempt to push her son into the limelight, but so were all of the other mistresses with their own children.

And so his mother had decided that the best way for Aguero to be recognised by his father would be to marry a woman from another high profile family, therefore leveraging his own power within the Khun family due to his connections.

It made perfect sense to Khun. His goal was not to be accepted by the Khun family, but to gain access to his fathers knowledge and connections so that, one day in the future, he could build his own empire.

He didn't see the point in waging war against his many siblings for something that may never be his and, even if it did fall into his hands, he would he under constant threat by those same siblings that would wish to see him fall and steal his position. Surely the best goal for him would be to create a completely separate empire which he could rule over himself.

This goal at the forefront of his mind, when his mother proposed an arranged marriage it seemed perfect for him.

Not only could this potentially get him access to his father, the person his mother chose would be from a high profile family therefore increasing his connections.

It was rather annoying to him that his mother had become sickeningly sweet ever since he had agreed to meeting the girl she had in mind, but it was better to deal with that than let his mother realise his true intentions.
