On his short journey, walking to work, Khun thought back to the previous night and his first meeting with Ehwa.
He was pleasantly surprised. Whilst he knew he would never hold any romantic feelings for the girl, it was a comfort to him that she felt the same way. They seemed to be on the same page and that would make life much easier for Khun in the future, not having to worry about an annoyance of a wife attempting to chain him down.
Having bought an apartment in the city centre, it took Khun only 15 minutes to walk to his office building. As he approached, he wondered how he had never noticed the florists he walked past every single day.
Getting closer to the store front, the lights were already on inside. Glancing at his watch, it was only just past 7am.
I wonder if they are serving coffee....
After speaking to the florist directly the previous evening, Khun had felt guilty over how he had reacted, though there was also a stubborn part of him that felt the florist had no reason to speak so rudely to him.
Maybe I can go buy a drink as way of apology.... I wonder if he will be working at this time?
Now outside the florist, he attempted to glance into the store to see if he could spot the young man. His heart began to beat faster as he spotted Bam picking flowers from the vast array placed in the buckets. Without thinking, he opened the door and entered, setting off the door chime.
"Welcome! Oh, it's Khun-san, I didn't expect to see you back so soon."
Khun felt almost blinded by the bright greeting Bam offered him.
"Yes, well I noticed that you also have a coffee shop here and decided to get a drink on my way to work."
"Of course, I would be happy to serve you. I will be over in just a moment if you want to take a seat at the counter."
Bam indicated to the mass of flowers he had gathered in his hands, meaning to go and put them to one side.
Khun nodded and took a seat as instructed. He speculated that Bam must be a morning person to be so bright and cheery first thing in the morning.
"So how did it go?"
Bam approached the counter ducking under an opening to appear on the other side
"How did it go?"
Khun responded with the same question, confused.
"The flowers, with your girlfriend. Did she like them?"
Bam turned away from Khun to wash his hands before preparing any drinks.
Panicking, Khun, for whatever reason, really did not want this young man to think he had a girlfriend.
"Oh, she's not my girlfriend. But she did like them. Thank you."
"Oh really? She's not your girlfriend? Then, you are trying to win her over?"
Bam started messing with some equipment behind the counter, not once turning to look at Khun as he spoke.
"No, I have no interest in her romantically. They were just a gift."
Bam peeked over his shoulder at Khun.
"Then why red roses?"
"Why?"
"Yes. I told you yesterday that red roses mean love and passion. Are you sure you aren't fooling that poor girl to fall in love with you Khun-san?"
Bam grinned cheekily as he spoke, finally turning to face Khun who laughed in response.
"Haha! No, not at all. She has no interest in me either. I was told that red roses were her favourite flower."
