Things to love about this city: the architecture, the food, the drinks, especially the café con leche. It's like a coffee-flavored hot chocolate. I drank three cups on our way from the airport and just as I was about to order a fourth one, Killian cut me off saying I was acting like an overexcited bunny. The car halts and Killian gets out and holds the door for me. I step out to stand next to him. He holds my hand and we make our way up the flight of stairs. As we near the door, a man in a suit comes out of the house.
"Welcome!" He greets happily in a very distinctive Spanish accent.
"Gracias Hector. How are you and your family?"
"We're all doing well, thank you." Hector replies before offering me a smile. "Hello, I'm Hector."
"I'm Zahra." I smile back, shaking his extended hand.
We don't interact long with him because a certain person could not contain his excitement and drags me inside the house. I hear shuffling and I turn to look at Hector who waves me off with a smile before walking away.
"Isla Lockhart ven aqui! Ahora!"
"Tio!"
A little girl comes into our view, laughing and running toward us. She screeches running towards Killian who instantly picks her up.
"Como estas, mi amor?" He greets showering her in kisses.
They are interrupted by footsteps walking down the stairs and a man with wavy blonde hair and deep grey eyes comes into view with a young woman behind him. When her eyes land on Killian, she lets out a shriek before running to him. Killian places the little girl back down and she runs to the man who gently ruffles her hair.
"I can't believe you're here!" The woman says excitedly hugging him.
"Well, I'm here." Killian chuckles as they pull back. He then turns to the man, giving him a hug too.
"It's great to have you back man!" The man says as they pull back.
"Guys, this is my girlfriend, Zahra." He introduces before averting his gaze back to me. "Baby, this is my sister Kurenai and her husband, Derek Lockhart."
Kurenai squeals, lunging at me and wrapping her arms around me, engulfing me into a bone crushing hug. "I'm so happy to finally meet you! You're way prettier than he described!"
"Thank you. It's nice to meet you too." I laugh as we pull back and before I even utter a word, the man pulls me into a hug too.
"Come, I'll introduce you to the kids."
I open my mouth to reply but suddenly and out of nowhere, a little boy comes running into Killian, causing him to lose his balance and sends them both on the floor.
Killian chuckles, kissing the little boy in his arms. He stands up with the boy in his arms. He places him down and motions for Isla to come to him. She walks over to us and stands next to her brother, both sporting giant grins on their faces. He leans down to their height and places an arm around them.
"Guys, this is Zahra."
The little runs into my open arms. I lift him up, swinging him around before resting him on my hip. "What's your name?"
"Noah." Noah mumbles. "You're very pretty."
"Aww, thank you sweetheart." I chuckle as he wraps his little hands around my neck. I balance him on my hip and lean down a little to pull Isla into a side hug. "I really love your hair. Did you do it yourself?"
"Mommy did it." She smiles proudly, running her little hands through her hair.
Killian who picks her up and tosses her in the air, making me have a mini heart attack. Noah squeals in my arms as Killian catches his sister effortlessly. He wiggles for release in my arms and I let him go. I hear footsteps walk down the stairs and into the living room. My gaze lands on Kurenai who is now holding a toddler.
