Jasper

It was slowly but surely getting closer and closer to my birthday. I hadn't liked my birthday but this was the cherry I didn't need on this horrible day.

I had been strategizing how I would run the pack with Amaya and Chloe, ideally, it would be Amaya but I needed to plan for the worst. I wanted to stay in the fantasy that there was a chance that we could be together, and that my father hadn't made a horrible decision for me.

As my birthday came up so did the responsibilities of becoming alpha. My father was giving me all of the passcodes and telling me how he had organized the pack and all of its information. I hadn't liked his way of setting it up so I planned to change it. I spent the rest of my time organizing the files and folders the way I wanted them. I was not the only one who had to prepare to step into a leadership position, Jacob and Elijah and to have lessons on what they do from the former beta and third in command.

"So after that, the alphas for the southern packs want to talk to you and reestablish our alliances with them," Jacob said, reading off of the list of things that must be done after we have taken our roles. I had wanted to have a meeting with them in the library to get ourselves together.

"Put that a week after the meeting with the northern packs," Elijah said looking at the calendar he had put together.

As happy as I was that they were falling into their roles so easily, it made me think of what the rest of my life will be like. Now that I know that having hope that Amaya will stay here is pointless, I still can't imagine a life without her. The mate bond has already been activated, and we already have a connection one that will hurt and be hard to break.

"Jasper," Jacob said, bringing me out of my thoughts. I cleared my throat and sat up in my seat fixing myself.

"Yeah. Um, I think that we can do all of that in a week if we leave that Monday to the northern packs and stay for two days we could leave and go to the southern packs we could be back by the end of the week," I said looking down at the notes Elijah gave to us.

"What's going on?"Jacob asked, putting down his papers along with Elijah.
"Yeah, I thought you would be happier to get this done and out of the way. Elijah added on.

"No, I am, it's just- I think we have enough done today. We can come back later and finish the rest." I said signaling them to wrap it up, and they started to gather their belongings.

"You need to chill, there's still a good chance that the pack will vote for Amaya. Before what happened that night she was the talk of the town." I gave a slight smile, I hadn't told anyone other than Amaya that my father chose Chole to be luna.

"Relax, soon all you will be doing is looking at her with googly eyes," Elijah said in the doorway, fanning himself as if he was a girl. I laughed at this as they left.
I wish I would be able to do that, I would give up anything to get to have Amaya as my mate. To have a normal life with her, be able to see her every morning and night, make inside jokes with her, mark her, have a mind link with her, hold her, and know that no matter what she would not leave, that she would be mine.

Just as I was getting deeper into my thoughts, I saw the door open. I could sense her aurora before she walked through the doors. She poked her head into the library as if making sure I was there, when she saw me she walked in with a smile on her face. She looked amazing just walking, she was wearing a sweater that had a color that screamed fall, with a pair of black ripped jeans and black boots. In a simple outfit like this, she managed to make it look like a high-end fashion designer made it. I couldn't help but smile as she walked up to me, never breaking eye contact.
