Chapter Seven

It's been a whole month since Alyssa was...held captive?...taken hostage?...went with her mate?...anyway it's been a month.

Jordan refuses to let her sleep anywhere but his room. He however, sleeps on the large couch in his room so Alyssa isn't sure what the point is.

Xavier and Taylor are getting along very well and Alyssa believes that Xavier is falling in love.

She is happy for him but wishes she could have what they have. Love.

She walks over to Jordan's office and her hand hovers over the door and after a long moment it falls back to her side. She turns to leave and runs straight into someone.

She has long blonde hair, blue eyes and has a small diamond crown on her head.

Alyssa had heard rumors of Queen Clancy's stunning beauty, but seeing it up close was something else.

"Queen Clancy." Alyssa said with a slight head nod of respect.

"You must be the beautiful Alyssa, it's an honor my dear." The queen greeted warmly.

"I'm sorry about running into you, I wasn't looking." Alyssa was stunned at the apology that flowed out of her. She'd never apologized to anyone, not since Paxton.

"No no no, don't apologize, this was my bad...would you take a walk with me?" The queen asked, hopefully.

"Of course." Alyssa said following closely behind the queen as she spoke.

"This castle was once a stranger to me. Every piece of gold and every garden except for one place I'd like to show you."

The pair stepped outside and Alyssa followed as the queen showed her to a large garden.

"This was the previous queen's garden. It was King Richard's favorite place to go after his Luna died."

They both approached a pond and the queen motioned for Alyssa to sit down. She did so and felt the soft grass fill with warmth as she did.

"Stick your hand into the pool."

Alyssa did and watched as horror flashed in her eyes,

The whole mansion was covered in smoke. Flame grew higher and higher and the young Alyssa watched as the man she grew to hate picked her up.

He grabbed her violently and she whimpered as he threw her over his shoulder. She could hear her mother's cries begging for mercy.

Alyssa wasn't sure what mercy she wanted but Alyssa just wanted to go back and hold her baby brother. To hear his laugh. To see anyone again but no one was going to save her.

Not yet anyway.

Alyssa pulled her hand back and jumped to her feet as everything she had desperately tried to forget came swirling back.

Alyssa glared at the queen as her eyes pooled with tears. The queen looked to be in shock, taking in everything that just happened.

"What happened to you?" Queen Clancy asked softly.

"Nothing." Aria snarled, "How dare you hurt Alyssa like that? You should be happy I don't rip your throat out."

Alyssa's eyes were pitch black, signalling that Aria was in full control.

"Now, I am going to go for a run to cool down. If I see you anytime soon...you'll be dead." Aria spoke the last part in a whisper which made the queen shrink back in fear.

Aria shifted into her black wolf and started to sprint, moving faster and faster. She didn't know how long she had been running for but when she was done, the palace was nowhere in sight.

They were both exhausted and Aria curled up into a ball and layed down with a huff. She gave Alyssa back control, who let out a whimper.

She wanted nothing more to forget what happened but that was never going to happen.

Paxton would always have control over her.

Alyssa woke up with the sun, still in her wolf form. She stretched out her legs and started the long walk back to the palace.

It took her 6 hours but she finally made it back. Aria was still on edge but when Alyssa shifted back, she seemed to relax more.

Thanks to her amazing leather jacket, Alyssa shifted fully clothed. She walked through the back door and was engulfed in a hug.

She flinched heavily this time which took both Jordan and Xavier by surprise. While Jordan hugged her Xavier watched confused. She never flinched that much.

Jordan took in her appearance and asked,

"Have you been crying?"

Alyssa just shrugged and said,

"I'm going to bed, don't wait up for me."
