Chapter Sixteen

"Paxton's nearby." Josh said and Xavier's face morphed into one of rage.

"He wouldn't dare come here, right? He's not that stupid." Xavier spat.

Josh stayed silent and Jordan looked between Josh, Xavier and Aria and asked in confusion and rage,

"Who's Paxton?"

Josh froze and Xavier paled several shades. Aria looked away, resisting the mate bond.

"You'll have to ask Alyssa." Aria said quietly.

"Then let her back out!" Jordan exclaimed and they all said in unison,

"NO!"

"What? Why?" Jordan asked.

"She doesn't have control right now. You have to wait until Aria gives the okay." Xavier explained.

"So this has happened before?" Jordan asked, trying to soak up as much information as possible.

"Multiple times but only Xavier has seen it." Josh explained.

"You want to wait until she has control." Xavier assured him.

Jordan waited several minutes contemplating, before he finally asked,

"What happens?...When she gets the bloodlust?"

Xavier looked to Aria for permission and when she nodded he said,

"She kinda explained what happens to me but if you want the full picture you'll have to ask her."

When Jordan nodded Xavier started,

"We were at a pack...um, doing our thing, and suddenly Alyssa just lost it. She killed everything in sight. Wolves, deer, she almost even killed the Alpha of the pack. I've never seen her so out of control, usually when she's in the field she's focused. Anyway, I pulled her off of the Alpha and she launched a full blown attack at me. She was about to rip my throat out when Aria broke through to her. Later Alyssa said that all she heard was blood, all she could see was red, like nothing else mattered to her but blood."

Jordan was completely shocked by what he just heard and Xavier shock his head and said,

"If you want the whole story, you should ask her."

Jordan just nodded his head, not trusting his voice.

At least an hour passed before Aria finally said,

"She's okay now, I'll let you guys talk to her."

Alyssa came back and Aria retreated. Alyssa almost immediately found Jordan's eyes and said,

"Sorry I ruined the ball."

"Hey hey hey, don't apologize. The ball's actually still going, we just already made our exit." Jordan said with a small smile.

Alyssa turned her gaze to her brothers and said,

"It's back."

"I know it's ok." Josh assured her.

"No it's not," Alyssa said, fear evident in her voice, "It also means he's back."

"We know." Xavier said.

"There is something I haven't told you." Alyssa said shyly.

"What?" They all ask.

"Paxton can trigger the bloodlust."

"What?!" Josh roared causing Alyssa to flinch.

"Lower your voice before you trigger it again." Alyssa scolded.
