Chapter 8

Erica POV

I watched as they dragged Ben away. First, they took Cyrus away, now they took away Ben. They would torture him, no doubt. My eyes were glossing over. Ben's mom was on the verge of tears. My mom was comforting me. Mike and Zoe were still out cold. 

"The-they wouldn't kill him," said Mom. It was clear that she respected him and even wanted me and him to be together. I hoped what she said was true. 

"W-we have to escape without B-Ben," I said choking out his name. We would have to leave him behind. 

We waited till the guard came down and unlocked the door. Mom knocked him out and stole his keys. Jane and Mom took Zoe and Mike and we went to a ventilation shaft.

We escaped and went through a hidden exit deep in the forest. I was still thinking about all the moments with Ben. I never got to tell Ben about how I felt about him. I still had hope that Ben could escape. He did it last time. 

Ben POV

I regained conciousness while being dragged into a chair. I snapped to my senses and swept out his legs from under him. I clamped my hand over his mouth before he could say anything. I knocked him out quickly and went to a vent nearby.

Shit, I had been out for a whole hour.

I wandered around the vent system and eventually found a exit. I walked to the ancient city and made my way to the parking lot. I hotwired a car and made my way to the hotel. I went to the room and picked the lock. I wandered in to see Catherine packed up.

She dropped the bags and hugged me. I noticed Mike see me and run towards me and hugged me. 

"Guys, Be-Ben's back," shouted Mike.

Mom and Zoe came out of the other room and hugged me.

"Where's Cyrus." I asked

"MIA." anwsered Catherine sadly.

"Oh." I said

Catherine was the first to pull away and said quietly "Erica's on the balcony."

I walked slowly to the balcony. I noticed a sniffling noise come from one of the chairs. I didn't want to surprise her, because I didn't want to go flying over the edge.

"Miss me?" I said playfully.

She backflipped and landed in front of me. Then I judo-flipped her. I pinned her down and she hugged me. She burried her face into my chest and I just rubbed her back awkwardly.

"Do-don't ever leave me ever again," said Erica. She then punched me in the chest. 

"I thought I told you to never leave me ever again," said Erica with some anger and concern in her voice.

"I can't promise you on that," I said sadly.

Erica seemed sad and just nodded. 

"Well we have to go pack up and get ready."

We returned to the main group and they were ready to go.

"Ben, we are electing you as mission leader." said Catherine.

I gaped, "I'm not qualified, you or mom should lead the mission." I said.

They shook their heads. Erica smirked at me and mouthed don't underestimate yourself.

Mike grinned at me making me think that he gave them the recommendation. Zoe just smiled.

"Okay, Okay I'll be mission leader." I said

"Yeah, 007 is always the leader." said Mike still grinning.

"Three things, number 1, we need a new hotel. Number 2, I know part of their plan, and number three, call me Ben." I said feeling more confident

"Well tell us the plan." said Catherine excited.

I shook my head "I'll tell you after were safe at another hotel." 

We had to go in a minivan and Me and Erica shared a row while Zoe and Mike shared a row.

Catherine announced "Keep it PG."

Me, Zoe, Mike, and Erica all blushed at the same time. Mom and Catherine burst out laughing.

We started our trip.
