Tuesday pt. V
'Irene POV'

Kim Taehyung.

The minute he earned my attention, he earned all of it.

It was during one of our outings and the assignment was to take a picture of rain.

While everyone else concentrated on capturing the image of the rain falling to the ground, Taehyung had climbed a tree and snapped shots of the rain falling from the clouds.

He thought differently and it intrigued me.

There was only one problem: he was married.

I was going to let it go, but she started getting in the way of everything.

Taehyung missed out on sightseeing, luncheons, and camaraderie all because he needed to go to his room whenever classes weren't in session.

Jimin was the one who let me know of her name.

"Why can't Taehyung come with us?" I asked.

He shook his head, smile in place as he rolled his eyes, "Because Jennie won't let him."

It irked me.

She was like an anchor weighing him down.

Taehyung was doing the bare minimum at the school when he could've been connected with golden opportunities, all because of her.

So I made it my mission to uplift him.

I gave him his first showcase.

I gave him the commercial.

I even gave him co-rights to Winter Bear.

I was there to make sure that he wasn't wasting his potential.

He was grateful, too. Always on the fence about everything and never going to make a bold decision, it was up to me to give him the extra push for him to realize that he can go after his dreams.

Seeing how happy he was when he was doing these things told me that I had made the right decision all along.

Then Taehyung got in the car accident. I remember him being on his phone  as he was scurrying across the street.

He was texting her, wasn't he?

She was the reason he didn't look up when the taxi hit him.

I remember screaming his name, but it was too late. The taxi crashed into his side causing Taehyung to fly across the road, landing head first.

I quivered in my spot, hands covering my mouth as I looked at Sungjae coming out of the car, pale as a ghost. The taxi driver also stepped out, apologies stumbling out of his mouth.

I was scared that Taehyung was lost forever. That he would have received some type of permanent damage. It was a relief that it was just memory loss.

Not expecting him to recall who I was, I went to visit his hospital room just grateful to see him. That's when I saw her for the first time. She was thin and taller than I was, her jet black hair down to her waist.

They looked good together.

It made me grip the flowers in my hands angrily.

How could she come see him when she was the one that made his life so difficult?

All my anger subsided when my name came out of his mouth, Taehyung proud that he could recall something.

Jennie's expression at that moment only made me prouder.

He remembered me because I had been with him recently.

He remembered me because I was the one that was helping him with his actual dreams.

So I wasn't going to back down now.

After all, his accident didn't change him much for me. He was still the same Taehyung that I knew.

It wasn't going to be long until Jennie realized that she no longer fit in the picture.

When Sungjae decided to bring her over, I thought it was a great idea.

What better way for her to fall out of love then seeing how different he was? How attached he was to me?

Plus, I had a feeling that Sungjae would eventually gain interest in Jennie and Jennie as well.

They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder, but I believe proximity's the only enabler.

I tried my hardest to keep Jennie and Taehyung away, but they somehow ended up still connecting.

Calming the rage inside of me, I thought about what my next move was.

If this was a game of chess,

I just needed to become Queen.

With Taehyung as my pawn,

I could push everyone aside and reclaim my throne.

So I thought two moves ahead while Jennie was concentrated on one.

I gathered his photos and with the help of my father, I got them into the global photographer's magazine - Shutter.

It was easy with Taehyung's skills, but easier with my father's connections.

And just like that,

Checkmate.
