MARCH 11, 20XX
WEDNESDAY

I've never answered a video call so fast in my life.

Then again, I've never been this angry before in my life.

"Jen-" He's already begging for mercy.

I don't give it to him.

"What are you doing?" My voice shakes and the sting in my throat burns like hell.

"Jennie," Taehyung licks his lips, his nervous habit.

I know because I know him so well.

I know because we've been married so long.

I know because I love him.

"Jennie, I... I'm..." Taehyung's still in shock that I answered my phone. He can't seem to understand what I'm asking, so I ask it again.

"What are you doing? Why aren't you on a plane right now?! Why aren't you here? Do you understand that tomorrow's my due date? So Taehyung....tell me really...what are you doing?"

By the way Taehyung's face falls, something tells me he just realized what he had forgotten.

"Our baby..."

I roll my eyes so the tears don't come out.

"Did you honestly forget? Did you just tuck away that boarding ticket so far back in your drawer and shut it so you could forget about it?"

Taehyung gulped, his eyebrows coming together as he frowned. "Jennie-"

Jennie, Jennie, Jennie...

"Enough," I whisper, defeated.

"Jennie, I made a mistake! I didn't purposefully forget, believe me. I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry. I'll be there on Friday, I promise. I'll make it up to you in any way I can. It's just that, I've been stressed and so busy with school and-"

"Friday? What if I have this baby overnight, what would I do without you here? Do you know how that makes me feel?"

Taehyung leans back in his seat, "Jennie, I can't make it any earlier."

"And why's that?"

"There's just something."

"Something more important that you're willing to risk missing the birth of your child-" My voice cracks and I duck my head down in shame. Bringing up my hands to my face, I shake my head, not wanting to talk any more.

Taehyung inhales sharply, his voice wavering as he attempts one last time to say my name.

It doesn't come out.

Looking up, I see that his eyes are watery and red.

"I-I'm just going to go," I tell him.

His eyes widen, "Please don't."

I give him a weak smile. "I'll send you pictures if the baby's born early. I'll try to text you as much as I can while recovering. I'll be fine without you."

"Jennie-"

I close my laptop.

Enough.
