your p.o.v *the next day*

I walked into the diner where Akaashi and I were supposed to meet for lunch. He was turning his head, scanning the groups of people.

"Right here, silly." He turned around to face me. "I thought I recognized you down the street, but I wasn't sure."

He leaned down to kiss my cheek. "Hi, beautiful. How's your day been so far?" He grabbed my hand and led me to a booth.

"Ennoshita and I met up with a friend from middle school. It was nice to catch up with them. I'm glad you asked me out here, though." I sat down across from and admired his face. The sunlight coming in from the window made his eyes sparkle, almost putting me in a trance.

"Why's that?"

"They wanted to go to that sports museum by the university. I wasn't too keen on the idea and this gave me the perfect chance to not go. Plus, I like spending time with you."

"I'm glad we can have at least a bit of alone time this week."

I flashed him a smile. "Me, too. This'll be a great four hours together before we head to Bokuto-san's. Actually, what's he up to right now?"

"He had to go to the school this morning to help with preparations for the Spring Tournament. I guess he wanted to clean up because he said he was gonna go home to 'get it ready' after."

Eventually a waitress came by to take our orders. We kept a light conversation while we ate. The whole time I couldn't keep my eyes off of him. The atmosphere was comfortable and exciting. We've only known each other for three weeks but I felt such a deep connection with him that makes me feel like I've known him for years.

"Is everything alright, sir?" I turned to look at a different waitress who looked about our age. Her eyelashes were batting flirtatiously at him.

"Yes, thank you." Something in Akaashi's face changed and his expression became the one I had only really sure during the training camp: emotionless.

"Perfect! They should be treating such a handsome customer like yourself well." She turned her head to me, her eyes glaring. She leaned over and pulled her shirt down to show more cleavage. "Anything I can do for you?"

"Can I just get the check, please? Or should I just ask our actual waitress?" he said bluntly. Akaashi's face said nothing, I couldn't tell what he was thinking. I got used to his face being decently expressive towards me. I wasn't sure whether he was oblivious to her flirting or was purposely choosing to ignore it.

The girl huffed but nodded, walking over to the woman who had served us. Akaashi turned to me, his eyes squinted in annoyance.

"Well at least she was right about you being handsome," I said, taking a sip of my drink.

"You know, it sounds a lot better coming from you than her." The gentle smile that had been on his face returned.

"How'd you like her flirting?"

He shrugged. "It was the cliché type of flirting you see in movies. She even went as far as ignoring my date. Not a fan. I'd much rather flirt with you."

The girl returned with an annoyed look on her face. She was holding a tray of drinks in one hand and our check in the other. "Here." She tried to turn away from us quickly but bumped into a man walking by. The glasses on the tray fell onto the table. I stood up quickly, not wanting to get wet. One of the glasses broke, glass shattering. Akaashi didn't get up in time, soda spilled and glass fell in his lap. I pushed the waitress out of the way and went to Akaashi.
