I woke up to the feeling of fingers on my face. It was a gentle touch, at first seeming to move the hair falling over my face, then seeming to trace random shapes along my features. The calloused pads of Akaashi's fingers ran over my cheeks and nose, making me crinkle my nose and furrow my brows.
"Oh, I'm sorry," he whispered, kissing my forehead. "Go back to sleep, darling."
I opened my eyes to be met with his handsome face, a smile immediately making its wake to my lips. I leaned into his hand, scooting closer to his body for warmth. "What are you doing, love?" I mumbled.
"You just looked peaceful. I didn't mean to wake you." His strong arms came around me, his hand now rubbing my back as my face rested in the crook of his neck.
It was quiet for a while, the sounds of our calm breathing the only thing we could hear. I tried going back to sleep, but the longer I was awake, the more excited I began to feel about today.
"Are you still awake?" I whispered, afraid to wake up Akaashi had he somehow fallen asleep.
A soft chuckle left his mouth. "I am. Can't go back to sleep?"
"Mm-mm." I tilted my face up so my lips met his jaw. "What time is it?"
"It's about to be 8:30." He gave me one last squeeze before stroking my hair and loosening his hold on me. "I'm gonna get up."
I rolled away from him, covering my face with my hands and beginning to rub away the drowsiness. I stretched and groaned, eventually willing myself to get up, missing the warmth from the sheets. I left my room, smoothing out my hair on the way. I looked into the mirror and saw my hair actually didn't look too bad, which was good. I washed my face and brushed my teeth, along with the other things I did for my morning routine. I put on my glasses and sighed happily, giving myself one last glance in the mirror.
"Finally decided to join me?" Akaashi said as I walked into the kitchen.
I took his mug of coffee from his hand and took a sip. "That's good."
He playfully glared at me, taking the cup back. "And it's mine."
"What's yours is mine?" I offered, going over to the fridge.
I grabbed the container with an index card taped to the top, a list of preheating instructions scribbled in my mother's handwriting. My mouth began to water just imagining the steaming pozole in a bowl. [a/n uh so we know y/n's mom is central american AND YES IK POZOLE IS MEXICAN- but tbh i felt like it😭 sorry not sorry?]
Akaashi watched as I grabbed everything my mom said I should use. We made conversation for the next few minutes, going over plans for today, tomorrow and next week as I followed my mom's instructions.
The doorbell rang and before I got the chance to speak, the door opened.
"Merry Christmas, lovebirds!" Ennoshita called out, his voice echoing through the house. Akaashi and I looked to the entrance of the kitchen to see Ennoshita in his pajamas still; a white long-sleeved shirt and blue flannel pants; and carrying a platter of cookies and a box wrapped in Christmas wrapping paper wedged between his arm and side. "I can smell the pozole already, yum."
He walked over to me, kissing the side of my head. "Good morning," I said to him, returning the kiss to his cheek. "Who are the cookies from?"
"Oh! Kirishima caught me walking over. Bakugo baked them, apparently. Said they're for us. They look good, right?"
"Very," I commented, drool pooling in my mouth. "Can't wait to try them."
"Same here." He walked over to Akaashi and did the typical boyish greeting of hand clapping and a brief one-armed hug. "Sad news, Y/N-chan." I hummed out, signaling for him to tell me. "Mom and Dad said we gotta leave around 11 to drive to my grandparents' house. So I only got about two hours because I still have to go back and change into real clothes," he said, cringing at the words 'real clothes'.
