y/n pov * ◌༉‧i was heading to potion class with taylor since we had it together. we walked in and placed our books on the table.
"so, what's going on with you and draco?" taylor asked, glancing at him with a side-eye.
"what about us?" i replied.
"don't you like him?" she pressed.
"yeah, but to him, i'm just a 'filthy mudblood.' every time he sees me, all i hear is that name. i've had enough of it," i complained.
"you never know! he might like you back!" taylor began, but snape interrupted us by smacking both of us with his book.
"stop gossiping about malfoy and focus on your potion," he ordered before walking away.
"oh my god," we both groaned in unison, rubbing our heads where snape had hit us.
"i'm going to kick him," taylor muttered under her breath.
"chatting about me, are you?" draco's voice came from the other table.
"whatever," i said, rolling my eyes.
"you should talk to him," taylor suggested.
"are you insane?" i exclaimed. "there's no way i'm going to talk to him and get called—" but i was cut off as another book hit me.
"since you want to chat about malfoy so much, switch partners," professor snape instructed.
"i don't think that's necessary," i protested, but snape grabbed me by the arm and dragged me to draco, then pulled goyle to taylor.
"can't keep my name out of your mouth, y/l/n?" draco smirked.
"can we just get on with this?" i asked him.
"or meet me at the astronomy tower?" he proposed.
"you're asking me?" i asked in disbelief. he nodded. "fine," i said reluctantly.
"seven o'clock," he told me before we got back to work on our potions.
later, as i walked to herbology with neville, discussing plants, i overheard draco's friends talking about me.
"what about y/l/n?" blaise's voice reached my ears.
"wait," i said, pulling neville to a stop and hiding behind him.
"that filthy mudblood? no way i'd ever like that stupid girl, merlin," draco laughed with his friends.
"i'm so sorry," neville said quietly.
"it's okay. i'm going to go now. can you tell me what we're doing in herbology?" i asked him. he nodded, and i ran off to the astronomy tower.
dropping my books in frustration, i sank to the floor and cried out of anger. leaning against the wall, i wiped my tears and glanced at the view before me. as i was about to pick up my books, a veined hand with rings reached out and grabbed them first.
"y/n? what are you doing here? i said seven o'clock," draco's voice said.
"leave me alone," i replied, gathering my books and preparing to leave. draco pulled me back, making me drop my books again. "oh my god," i muttered.
"tell me what's wrong," he insisted.
"go tell your friends how much of a 'mudblood' i am!" i shouted, trying to pick up my books again, but draco held my hands.
"you heard me, didn't you?" he asked. i nodded. "i'm really sorry. i didn't want them to know how much i like you. i didn't mean it, i swear. it was stupid of me," he confessed, his eyes sincere.
"you like me? like, actually like me?" i asked, astonished.
"yes and no. i know you're a muggle, but there's something different about you," he said. my cheeks warmed as he pulled me into a hug, and i hugged him back.
"i knew it!" taylor's voice cut through. i looked up to see taylor and blaise standing together.
"pay up!" taylor demanded from blaise. he scoffed.
"bloody hell," i said, shaking my head.
"you guys are so adorable! see?" taylor winked at me, and i felt my cheeks heat up again as draco's arms wrapped around my waist.
