sitting on draco's bed, i watched him move around the room picking things up and pretending to 'clean' even though he was clearly avoiding eye contact.

"sooo...where are we moving?" i said happily, swinging my legs over the edge of his bed. "los angeles? texas? no—south korea! it's so beautiful there."

i grinned, waiting for him to smile back like he always did.

instead, draco froze.

"uhh...y/n." he said quietly.

i blinked, confused. "what?"

he wouldn't look at me.

"we can't."

i stood up. "what do you mean we can't?"

"we can't travel together." he said, his voice tight.

"wait what? why not?" my stomach dropped. something felt wrong.

"we just...can't." he insisted.

"draco, what does that even mean?" anger started bubbling up. "all the things we planned, everything we talked about since second year, what changed?"

"i can't tell you. please just...stop." he said softly, avoiding my eyes.

"draco, you promised me. you promised we'd travel together, live together, stay together!" my voice cracked as i raised it.

"i can't do any of that with you!" he shouted back. "can't you understand that i can't come with you?"

his words hit harder than any spell.

"we've been friends for six years, draco! you promised we'd always tell each other everything!" i yelled, emotions spilling out.

he threw his hands up. "then maybe we should stop being friends!"

everything went silent.

pain stabbed deep in my chest.

"fine," i said, voice shaking. "you wanna stop being friends? wish granted."

i grabbed my robe, walked out of his dorm, and kept my head down as tears blurred my vision. i made it down the stairs, out of the slytherin common room... and crashed straight into someone's chest.

"y/n?" a familiar voice said.

i looked up through blurry eyes.

blaise.

"what's wrong?" he asked, worried.

"draco...draco wants to stop being friends," i whispered before covering my mouth as sobs escaped. blaise immediately pulled me into his arms, hugging me tightly and rubbing my back.

– draco's pov –

the second she walked out, guilt hit me like a spell to the chest.

i ran a hand through my hair, pacing.

"fuck!" i shouted, grabbing the nearest object and throwing it across the room.
