Hurt me in the worst ways But I still had hope. Until it was ripped out of me In my last living days.
My body burnt No one around Except the men who didn’t believe Me; Them and their stupid doubts.
How could someone so high in their caste Touch a lowly one like me, They questioned and they asked. Why would they believe a girl like me Twice as downtrodden Never to be free.
Now, they’re all using my name For their own blame games My pain is a political ploy All because they wouldn’t teach their boys.
Please. Save me. Even in death, I am not free.
****** In case you arent aware of the context, On 14 September 2020, a 19-year-old Dalit woman was gang-raped in Hathras District in UP, India by four upper caste men. After fighting for her life for two weeks, she died in a Delhi hospital.
The victim's brother claimed that no arrests were made in the first 10 days after the incident took place. After her death, the victim was forcibly cremated by the police without the consent of her family, a claim denied by the police When the news broke out initially through social media, Agra Police, Hathras District Magistrate , and UP's Information & Public Relations called it "fake news".
This is caste based and gender based violence. Also her rapists havent been prosecuted. Instead the Yogi government has been defending them and blaming the poor dead girl.
I'm now asking anyone who can to start signingpetitions. It's not a lot but it's a start.
