Misogynistic Feather

WARNING: STRONG OPINIONS

--------------------------------------------------------------

Black, white, yellow, brown,

All women-constantly put down.

It doesn't matter if its a burqa or a short skirt.

We're still treated like a burden on the earth.

Its like being objectified is a woman's right.

We're all Princess Cinderella at a ball,

but instead of meeting Prince Charming,

we meet men who catcall.

Curfew not at twelve in the night.

Women rushing home at six- oh what a sight!

Little girls in uniforms,

College students sleeping in dorms,

Moms hanging out with their mothers,

Getting raped by friends, fathers and brothers.

Is this the norm of our life,

trying to keep our virginity intact until we're a wife??

Girls in China wear fake leg hair to ward off predators.

If you speak out as a victim, you're swarmed by haters.

Not that it makes a difference,

with shirts pulled high and pants all loose.

Trying to walk the road with head bent and shoulders tense.

Hoping that they don't use our "Revealing clothes" as an excuse.

Until the boys decide to know and learn,

we're all just another Nirbhaya.

So thank you for your concern.

But until all men get their shit together,

we women are all birds of the misogynistic feather.

--------------------------------------------------------------

I know this is more specific to India but women everywhere have problems similar to these. All of us has been catcalled atleast once and let me say, it degrades you. It makes you feel like a lesser person. Like you're someone just because of the way you look and not for who you are.

Again, I know-all men aren't like this. But as one, we really need to get our shit together.

Also, I have found that many women aren't aware of what feminism is:

feminism/ˈfɛmɪnɪz(ə)m/noun the advocacy of women's rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes.

PLEASE DONT BELIEVE THE B.S SOME PEOPLE ARE SPREADING- CALLING WOMEN MORE POWERFUL THAN MEN. We're all equal.

I've referenced Nirbhaya in this and for those of you who don't know who she is, please read the above link. I feel it is VITAL that you read it.
