i was walking with my best friend, lily, to the great hall. as we entered, we saw ron, hermione, and harry—my brother—sitting at a table, so we went over.
"hey!" harry greeted, kissing my forehead. i smiled and sat next to him, across from hermione and lily.
"so, did you guys sleep well?" ron asked. we nodded and then chatted about something random. while looking around the great hall, i caught draco staring at me. he winked and then turned back to his friends, making my cheeks flush.
"well, lily and i forgot something in the common room, gotta go!" lily said with a forced smile.
"wait, we just got—" i started to protest, but she dragged me away.
"when are you going to tell them that you're dating draco?" lily asked as soon as we were out of earshot.
"they hate him. if harry finds out, I'm going to be dead," i said.
lily gave the password, and the common room door swung open. we went inside and sat down on the couch.
"i say, tell them," she insisted.
"you're mental, you know that," i told her.
"how am i mental? you need to tell him," lily said.
"no, i'd rather not say anything," i replied.
"class is about to start. let's go before snape hits us with that stupid book," lily said. i nodded, and we rushed out of the common room to potions class.
"three minutes late, potter and bloom," snape said as we entered.
"potter, sit by malfoy. bloom, sit by granger," snape ordered. we groaned and took our assigned seats. draco winked at me, and i rolled my eyes.
"getting in trouble, potter?" draco smirked.
"stop smirking before i slap that smirk off your face," i retorted.
at the end of class, draco quickly handed me a note before i ran off to catch up with lily.
"what's that?" she asked as we moved to a corner away from everyone.
i unfolded the note:

"ooooo," lily teased, winking at me. i playfully pushed her as we headed to our next class.
"go, go, go!" lily urged as we dashed to the common room to drop off our books. i hurried out and made my way to the astronomy tower.
as i climbed the stairs, i saw no one, so i took a moment to enjoy the view. turning around, i was startled to see draco standing there.
"bloody hell, you scared me!" i said, pushing him playfully as he laughed.
he wrapped his arm around my waist. "i've missed you," he said.
"you saw me in first period," i replied.
"still, i miss you," he said, pulling me closer and hugging me tightly, kissing my forehead. then suddenly—
"stupefy!"
we dodged the spell and saw harry, ron, hermione, and lily.
"expelliarmus!"
lily's wand shot out, disarming harry.
"what is wrong with you?" i yelled at harry.
"what is wrong with you? why are you with him? why are you hugging him?" he yelled back.
"are you two dating?" hermione asked. we both nodded.
"bloody hell," ron muttered.
"why didn't you tell me?" harry demanded.
"because of how you're reacting right now," i said.
"at least tell me next time, so I won't throw a random spell at him," harry said. i nodded, and the three of them walked away.
lily waved goodbye as she left, and we waved back until she disappeared.
"well, they know now," draco said.
"yeah, at least that's over," i replied, chuckling. he smiled at me and kissed my cheek.
"let's go," he said, holding out his hand. i took it, and together we walked away from the astronomy tower.
