Alayna's P.o.v
"Melody, are you excited to meet Grandma and Grandpa?" I said looking at my daughter.
"Yes Mummy" she answered sounding extremely annoyed, she was just tapping away on her iPad I had given her last christmas.
She's a spoiled little child, but she's my baby.
Moving back to Australia was the best thing for Melody. I didn't have enough money in the states to take care of her on my own. So my parents agreed to get me a place and said the only thing I had to worry about was school, which I was grateful for.
The car we took to my parent's house finally stopped outside of the place I claimed as my childhood home. Melody hasn't ever met my parents because as soon as she was born I moved away.
" Grab your bag Mel" I said nagging her as I always do.
" I got it Mummy" she said annoyed with me.
"Watch the attitude little Miss. Diva." I said smiling at her.
I grabbed my things from the trunk as my Mum ran down the porch stairs with open arms running straight into me.
" Alayna oh how we have missed you darling" she said as her embrace grew tighter, I could feel her tears moistening the shoulder of my shirt as she released me.
" Now who is this little girl" she said beaming at Melody.
" Melody thats grandma!" I said excitedly.
She smiled, but hid behind my pants leg.
My mum helped me grab all of mine and Melody's things and we threw them into the foyer.
" Its so nice to have you home Alayna" she said smiling and hugging me again.
"Its good to be home" I said quietly.
I picked up Melody and entered the house, she was exhausted, as was I from the long flight from Seattle to Sydney.
I saw my dad sitting in his old rocking chair, I immediately walked over and hugged him.
" I've missed you Dad" i said smiling into his shoulder.
" I missed you Alayna" He said flashing his bright green eyes.
"Now Dad this is Melody, Melody thats Grandpa" I said smiling.
She gave him a small wave ,but was otherwise quiet. She was so shy, something she got from me.
" Well as much as I hate to do this, Mel and I need some sleep, we can revisit when i get up & then we can go look at apartments?" I suggested.
" Absolutely darling" my mum said.
I began to lug Melody up the stairs and into my old bedroom, it was exactly how I left it.
"Mummy was this your room?" Mel asked.
" Yes it was" i said lifting up the duvet and getting her into her pajamas.
As soon as her little head connected with the pillow she was out. I just smiled at her sleeping figure, admiring her bright blonde hair, which was the complete opposite of my dark brown hair.
To say the least she looked just like her dad. They shared the same fair skin and bright blue eyes. Melody was a spitting reflection of Luke- I mean the sperm donor. I reminded my subconscious.
I laid down next to Melody and finally allowed sleep to consume me as I snuggled with my daughter.
