Chapter 2.

Alayna's P.o.v

I woke the next morning to Melody and my mum laughing downstairs. I got out of bed and walked down thw narrow staircase into the living room where I saw Mel and my mum snuggled under a blanket watching some video.

"Morning mummy" Mel smiled at me.

"Morning baby" I smiled as I sat next to her.

"She starts headstart this year doesnt she?" mum asked while running her hand through Melody's bright blonde hair.

"Yeah, she doesnt wanna go, she says school is 'for idiots' and she is not an idiot" I said slightly laughing at my childs choice of words.

"Well you better get ready so we can apartment shopping and then maybe dinner?" She asked.

"Yes that sounds great mum." , I said, " I better get a shower and then I'll get Melody ready, can you feed her breakfast?" I asked.

"Absolutely" my mum said.

I kissed Melody's head and ran up the stairs into the bathroom.

Soon the smell of pomegranates and vanilla filled my nostrils as my shampoo washed down the drain.

I got out and began getting dressed in a cream colored dress that tied in a bow in the back of it.

I put on my eyeliner and decided to wing it out. I tight lined my water line and applied light mascara, i dont want spider leg lashes. I decided to pair it with a nude lip.

After make up, I blow dried my hair which made it pin straight, I was trying to grow it out so I decided against adding more heat than needed.

I walked downstairs to see if Melody has eaten, which she had.

"C'mon Mel let's go get dressed" I said sweetly.

She put her iPad down and lugged herself upstairs.

I dressed her in a pair of little jean shorty shorts with a black tank top& one of her summery sweaters

which was a bright blue to compliment her eyes, which she opted to wear with her plain black thongs.

I brushed out her extremely long hair and pulled it into a ponytail, just how she liked it.

As soon as both of us were ready, I walked downstairs with Melody holding onto my hand.

"Mum can i borrow your car?" I asked.

"Of course here Lainy." She said handing me the keys.

I walked outside the blistering Australian sun scorching my skin, I should've put sunscreen on Mel.

I buckled Melody in, as well as myself and began driving towards the complex where the realtor said to meet her.

She was late, which I expected. I finally saw her and got Melody out.

" Hello you must be Alayna" she said shaking my hand.

"Hello you must be Hannah" I said smiling back.

" Okay well lets get to it then" she said walking towards the gorgeous apartment.

"It's a two bedroom, 1 and a half bath, a living room, full kitchen, and is two stories." she said standing in the huge room, her voice echoing off everything.

"Okay I'm just gonna look around" I said smiling at her.

It was HUGE. It was perfect. I walked upstairs and the bedrooms were just the right size for Melody and I. I walked back downstairs and Hannah smiled at me obviously wondering what I thought.

"I love it, how soon can we move in?" I asked her.

"Uhm well after you sign the papers, it's all yours, you can move in anytime you like." she said.

"okay thank you, I'll just follow you back to your office then so we can get the paperwork done?" I suggested.

*two hours later*

That took absolutely forever, but 9,000 paper cuts and a screaming 5 year old later I had a house.

My mum called to tell me she couldn't make dinner cause my sister needed her for something so I decided to just take Meoldy and myself anways.

We arrived at the restaurant in record time. Once we were all settled in, a man came over and told us our waited would be with us shortly. I began to help Melody decide what she wanted, which she opted for the chicken nuggets.

I was trying to explain to her she couldnt have brownies for dinner when the waiter finally came over. He immediately recognized me.

"Oh my god Alayna" Luke spoke, his words coming over me like cold water.

"Luke" I said looking into his eyes, they looked depressed, like he hadn't slept in months, his once clean arms,  were now covered in art work and his lip was pierced. It was very flattering on him.

"Is that Melody?" He asked looking at her.

"Yeah it is" I said biting my lip, not really wanting to look him in the eyes.

"Wow she's gorgeous" He said not knowing what to do.

"Mummy who is he?" Melody asked.

"That is Luke, one of Mummy's old friends.

"Really Alayna?" He said obviously pissed at me for not telling Melody that Luke was in fact her dad.

"Yes really cause I dont think Melody would really like to know who you really are" I said through gritted teeth.

"Can I have chicken nuggets" Mel interupted us.

"Of course sweetheart" Luke said smiling at Melody.

"Anything for you Alayna?" He asked.

"No" I answered.

He eventually came back with Melody's food and sat next to me.

"What the hell are you doing?" I asked him giving him my best stink eye.

"Look I wanna talk to you" he said.
