Bella pulled up to Sam's house the next morning in a late 1963 faded red/orange Chevy StepSide C-10 pickup. Jacob was sitting with Bella in the truck while Luka, Leah, and Seth were sitting in the truck's bed. "Jake, are you sure about this? You told me Sam hates Luka," Bella said worried this will cause a fight.
"We need Sam's pack, Bella. There isn't enough of us without them," he explained then opened the truck door and steps out. Luka, Leah, and Seth jump out of the truck's bed just as Sam comes out of his home and onto his porch with Paul, Jared, Quil, and Embry.
"What are you doing here, Luka? Did you finally see you're not meant to be an Alpha?" Sams asked in a condescending tone. Leah glares at Sam, feeling the need to defend Luka.
She steps forward, "She is a far better alpha than you, Sam. Luka doesn't use her power to force us to do things against our will like you!" Leah spat. Her words anger Sam causing him to walk off the porch going straight for Leah. before he could reach her, Luka gets in his way.
"I'm here to talk, Sam, but if you come at a member of my pack like that again, I'll rearrange your face," she threatened in a ice cold tone.
Tension grows between them both as Bella walks up to them, "Sam, an army of newborns, is coming to forks. We need your help to protect the town," Bella explained.
"Why should I help a bunch of traitors and a clan of leaches?" Sam asked looking down at her.
"Use your head, Sam! Where do you think all those newborns will go after they kill us? Do you think they will just disappear? No, they will hunt and kill everyone in forks, and then they will come kill everyone on the reservation. And their deaths will be on you! Because you care more about your pride than your duty!" Luka spat. She might hate Sam, but she would never put her feelings before someone's life.
"You are going to get back in that truck and take your pathetic leach loving brother with you," Sam demanded while shoving her back a bit. Luka turns like she is about to walk away. Instead, she pulls her left arm back and turns, fast-hitting Sam right in the face with a left hook, sending him flying backward. Before his body could hit the hard ground, it exploded, and a giant black wolf landed on its paws, growling at Luka. The rest of the two-pack members were surprised at what they just witnessed. Jake quickly pulls Bella behind him as Sam charges at his sister. Luka runs towards Sam, and her body explodes as they are about to collide. Her white wolf tackles him into the hard ground, causing them to tumble from impact. Sam snaps his teeth, trying to get his teeth into Luka's flesh as they roll around in the dirt. She uses her hind legs to push him off of her. They both stand not far from each other, baring their canines. Sam lunges at Luka again, going for her throat, but she moves to the side at the last minute, and Sam's massive frame passes her. She bites into Sam's side, her sharp canines cutting through his flesh and blood spilling into her mouth and onto the grass. He yelps while turning his body, bringing his paw down over Luka's right eye, his claws tearing through the flesh. Luka yanks away in pain as blood spills from the wound and taints the beautiful white fur on her face a bright red.
Bella grips onto Jake, worried for Luka, "Jake, you got to do something?!" she pleaded.
"I can't, Bella. This is a fight between alphas. Lukas has to do this on her own," he explained even though it was hard for him just to stand there while his sister bleeds. Luka couldn't see out of her right eye at that moment, but she refused to back down from this fight. Sam uses this to his advantage and attacks Luka's blindside, tackling her to the ground and trying to latch on to her throat again. Luka used the momentum to roll them both over so she was on top of him and her mouth wrapped around his throat tightly. Sam immediately tenses as Luka growls deeply while her grip on his neck tightens, making Sam whine and submit to her. She lets go of Sam and moves off him. He walks behind his home to change as Jake grabs some spare clothes from the truck and gives it to Luka as she changes back in the woods. By the time Luka returned to Bella and Jake, her right eye had healed. Sam stood in front of his home, waiting for her.
"I'm not going to take your pack from you, Sam. Even though it is in my right to do so, but I do expect you to help us fight the newborn army and fulfill your duty as a shifter," Luka explained looking right at him. Sam nods to Luka, keeping his big mouth shut as he walks back into his home and his pack of boys follows him.Jake, Leah, and Seth all pull Luka into a big hug. They all had been anxious for her and hated not being able to help. Luka smiles while hugging them back. "I'm ok guys, I promise," Luka said as her pack pull away from her.
"You could have died," Jake pointed out twitch a hint of fear and anger.
"I know, but it needed to be done, and now we have the help we were needing. That's what really matters," Luka explained putting her hand on his shoulder to comfort him.
