Luka and Jake walk out of the Swan residence, Which was a small house with white wooden siding and two bedrooms on the second floor. "Well, whoever it was left their scent all over the place, so we should be able to hunt them down if they show up in forks again," Luka said, stopping in front of Bella and Edward.
"Thank you for coming, Luka," Edward said to Luka sincerely While putting an arm around Bella.
"Your both Jake's imprints that makes you family to me, Edward, and I protect my family," Luka told Edward, then looks toward Bella. "It's good to see you again, Bella though I wish it were under better circumstances," Luka said to Bella and smiles at her.
"I was surprised when Jake told me about you, Luka. When I first saw you, I never thought you could be Jake's twin. But seeing you both together, I'm not sure how I missed the resemblance," Bella admitted to Luka, noticing now that Luka and Jake shared the same beautiful smile and kind eyes. But Bella could also see the pain in Luka's eyes that she tries to hide from everyone.
"We should head back to the house and talk with the others and see if Jasper and Emmett were able to track the nomad," Edward told all three of them.
Jasper and Emmett walk inside the Cullen home and into the living room, where the rest of the Cullens and Luka's pack stood. "We lost the scent a few miles from Bella's home," Jasper said to Carlisle. Jasper is a tall, handsome man with honey blond hair that falls just above his collar. He is muscular but lean, unlike his brother Emmett. Like the other Cullens, he has pale, marble-like skin.
"Someone's orchestrating this," Carlisle said to his family.
"Victoria?" Bella asked Carlisle from the couch where Jake's arm was around her, so Bella leans against Jake.
"I would have seen her decide," Alice answered Bella while sitting right next to her on the couch. Alice is a very beautiful person, petite, the shortest of the Cullens. She has delicate eyebrows, and her hair is cropped short and inky black.
"It has to be the Volturi," Edward said to Alice.
"I don't think it's the Volturi either," Alice told Edward, looking up at him from her seat.
"So we keep looking," Emmett explained to everyone.
"We'll also take shifts guarding Bella at her house," Carlisle told everyone.
Rosalie looks to Carlisle, annoyed, "Another protection detail?" she asked Carlisle like it was a stupid idea.
"Rosalie!" Luka said to her imprint standing next to the chair; Rosalie sat in surprised at the way she was acting.
"No, she's right. I mean, you can't protect me, watch my dad and search for the intruder," Bella told everyone.
"And for Victoria," Rosalie added, looking at Bella trying to ignore Luka's presence.
"And keep yourselves fed," Bella said; she worried more for the Cullens than herself.
Edward looks to Bella, "I'm not leaving you here defenseless," he demanded.
Bella looks up at Edward, "Well, I'm not going to let you starve, and I wouldn't be unprotected. I have," Before she could finish her sentence, Luka intervened.
"You have my pack and me," she informed Edward, making Rosalie stiffen; she didn't like the idea of Luka being in danger for Bella. Edward glances at Rosalie, having heard her thoughts. Edward wished Rosalie would stop being so stubborn and give in to her feelings for Luka. His sister might get on his nerves, but he wanted her to be happy, and he knew Luka would make Rosalie truly happy.
"Even with your help, Lu, there isn't enough of us," Jake told his sister.
"Then you should talk to Sam if we bring up Charlie I'm sure he would agree to help. It is their job to protect humans from vampires," Luka explained to Jake.
Luka hated the idea of working with Sam, but it wasn't about rivalry anymore. It was about Bella's safety and Charlie's. In the days that followed, Luka's pack at least tried to work together with Sams. The wolves from both packs would take over so the Cullen's could hunt. It wasn't exactly an easy alliance. Luka stood in a field wearing long jean shorts, sneakers, and a black sports bra. On her right arm was a black tattoo in the design of a wooden dream catcher with a huge wolf paw print in the middle and bird feathers hanging off the dream catcher's bottom. Luka and the rest of her pack had gotten the same tattoo as a way to show they were not apart of the reservation pack. Luka looks up at the cloudy sky, hoping it wouldn't rain. Leah, and Seth were with her in the field along with Jasper, Alice, Emmett, and Greyson. Luka had asked Jasper to help them learn how to fight vampires since he had the most experience and she wanted to make sure her pack had all the knowledge they could on the subject. Leah and Seth lay in the grass next to Luka in their wolf forms, watching Emmett and Jasper spar. Alice walks over to Luka and stands next to her, "So Edward told me that you imprinted on Rosalie," Alice said to Luka teasingly. Luka blushes, refusing to look at Alice, "so when are you going to ask her out?" Alice asked Luka.
"I'm not going to Alice," Luka told her,.
"And why not?" Alice asked Luka, looking up at her.
"Rosalie can do better than someone like me, Alice. She deserves someone normal and not broken," Luka said to Alice sadly, finally looking down at her pain swirling in her eyes.
"Luka, that is Rosalie's choice to make, not yours. Plus normal is boring; the best kind of people are those who are a little strange," Alice explained to Luka, smiling happily at her.
