Veronica's POVIt was the night of the last Triwizard Championship. Everyone gathered in the arena outside as the competitors walked through the maze. We waited for them to return.
"Nervous?" I asked Sage as she was holding mine and Hermione's hand.
"A little. I just want this for Harry. I mean. I think he truly deserves to win this, especially since he didn't sign up for this!"
What felt like hours went by. One by one the contestants who did not make it that far came back. Draco was telling us what he plans on doing this summer and the "big plans" he has for me. I had a hard time believing him, only because a lot can happen over the summer. Just then, the music began to play and everyone stood up to cheer.
"HARRY!" Sage and Hermione screamed.
"Bloody hell. Who knew Potter could do it." Draco said. I elbowed him to be nice and he started to clap. As we were all cheering, something didn't feel right. Harry wasn't standing up. It seemed as though he was hugging something. Sage ran down to congratulate him. She let out a blood-curdling scream. I started to run towards her and Draco was right behind me. I placed my hands over my mouth in terror.
"THAT'S MY BOY! THAT'S MY SON!" A yell came from the stands. I looked over to see Cedric's dad running to him hovering over his lifeless body. Draco grabbed me and Sage and we ran back to Slytherin's common room.
"I have to go back. Harry. He's covered in blood!"
"No! Sage." Draco said to her, scaring her to the couch. I just sat there. I was trying to process what is going on. I know that lifeless look. I've witnessed it with my own eyes. Just then a loud knock was at the door. Draco grabbed his wand and slowly walked to the door. He opened it slowly to see grandmother standing there.
"Oh, put down your wand, Malfoy." She said as she pushes past him coming over to hug us. Sage began to cry hiding her face in grandmother's shoulder. Draco stood back awkwardly watching us. Grandmother looked at him and held out her hand to invite him over. He hesitantly walked towards us and kneeled next to me.
"Listen, you three need to make sure you stay safe. Can you do that? We only have a few more weeks left of school and I don't need you guys to go looking for trouble."
"Yes." We all said.
"Right, well. A word please, Mr. Malfoy." Grandmother stood up and Draco followed her out.
Draco's POV
"Right, well. A word please, Mr. Malfoy." McGonagall said. I followed her out nervously leaving the twins on the couch hugging each other.
"I just want to say...thank you." I looked at her in shock. "Thank you for protecting these two. I've seen how you act with them, especially Veronica. And I saw the way you took care of Sage after the water competition. I know you protect them. So, I just want to say thank you. The only thing I ask is to not mention these two to your father, understood?" Not mention them? I had so many plans for Veronica to meet my family this summer. I don't understand why father doesn't need to know about her. I understand he is a death eater, but he won't go crazy.
"Understood, ma'am." I said. She nodded and walked away. I walked back into the common room and made the girls some tea.
~~
It was the last day of school. Everyone was packing up and getting ready to leave the castle. The girls stay behind to travel with McGonagall. I walked into the Great Hall and saw Potter and Sage snogging. I rolled my eyes in disgust and walked towards Veronica at our table.
