Chapter 14- Welcome Home

We arrived at Hogwarts, although it's beautiful and still breathtaking, it doesn't feel like home anymore. Something feels like it is missing. The crowd felt smaller than normal. Death eaters were there to greet everyone coming off the train, asking for their blood status.

"This is ridiculous. We have to prove our blood status."

"So that's why not everyone is here?" I looked at Draco and he squeezes my hand. I am happy we are both pureblood and in the same house. We step off the train and he drops my hand. I tried to not take offense to it because I understand this lifestyle right now. It just sucks I can't hold his hand freely anymore.

"Ah, Malfoy. You're good to go." A tall death eater said. He didn't look familiar to me, he had yellow teeth and dark eyes. His hair was messed up in his face and he smelled of rum and smoke. "And who's your friends?" He says smiling at me creepily.

"She's pureblood." Draco said sharply.

"Well, they will have to prove it, don't they?"

"I said. She is with me." Draco is in his face now, speaking in an angry voice. His face was stone cold and I looked down, avoiding eye contact. He grabs my arm and pulls my sleeve up revealing my mark. The death eater looks down and smiles.

"Very well then. Off you go." We hurried along to get away from them.

"I don't think it is safe for you to be here." Draco says quietly.

"Draco, this is safer than being at home hiding. I will not put my aunt and uncle in danger."

"Slytherins this way. Gryffindors to your left." McGonagall said trying to sort everyone before the death eaters do. Grandmother looked at me with fear. I could tell she's looking for Sage. I smiled to try and reassure her and she nods.

It's been a couple of weeks and Draco and I have barely had any time to be alone together. There are death eaters patrolling every inch of Hogwarts. I've been waiting for a letter from Sage to make sure everything is okay. We all go to the Great Hall to listen to another speech Snape has for us. He is now the headmaster of the school, this was Voldemort's idea. Not only has he taken over the ministry, but also Hogwarts. We sat next to Milly and Axel. Draco grabbed my hand under the table and squeezed it.  He would occasionally drop my hand when a death eater walks by. When we were done eating, in silence, we would stand up and get into formation and walk back to our common rooms. Marching, shoulder to shoulder in perfect rows and columns. There is no free time, no sitting outside with your friends gossiping, no sneaking off to each other's common rooms.

This isn't home anymore.

I've been trying to stay happy, especially around Draco, but it's been difficult. I think he is starting to notice which is causing him to feel more upset. There will be some nights where Milly has to get Draco out of bed to calm me down because of nightmares. I just want this to be over with. This is not the way I pictured my last year to be.

Draco's POV

"How come you're not bothered by the burning feeling in your arm?"

"I just ignored it I guess. You'll get used to it my love."

"Draco, it's annoying. It's burning more than usual." He kisses my arm and pulls me into a hug.

"I'm so sorry, Ronnie. I am sorry you have to feel this." I kissed her arm to try and calm her down.  Just then an owl flies into the common room. It drops a letter and flies off.

She opens the letter and there was nothing on it. I pulled out my wand and pointed it at the letter.

"Aparecium" I said and the ink began to reveal itself.

"Hermione." She said laughing knowing Sage would have never come up with the idea of using invisible ink.

My dearest sister,

We are perfectly safe. Been going on loads of adventures, let's just say!

I am staying safe and so is Harry. Hermione is brilliant you know, coming up with

different charms. This invisible ink was her idea! Anyways,

I just wanted to let you know we are safe and I love and miss you dearly.

Also, don't respond. We know they are tracing mail. I'm lucky enough if this gets to you!

Much love,

S.S.

Veronica smiles and looks at me. I know she felt relieved receiving that letter. I hugged her and kissed her.

"I'm so happy they're safe. I was beginning to worry."

"I know. I just hope they're being smart. I know how Potter is." I noticed Veronica's face dropped. "But, thankfully they're safe and staying together. Oh, come here you." I picked her up and placed her on my lap having her straddle me. "They are perfectly safe. There is no need to be scared." The common room was lit by the fireplace. No one else was around. It was just me and her and I couldn't stop myself. I began kissing her, pulling her close to me. She begins to kiss back, running her fingers through my hair. I pulled her hair back exposing her neck and began kissing it. I start to unbutton her blouse and run my hands over her perfect breasts.

"Ehm." We both stopped. I let out an angry growl.

"What."

"Snape  would like to see you. Both." I looked up to see who it was. Crabbe was trying to look away awkwardly.

"Thanks." I said to the fat idiot. He walks away in a hurry.

"Right, um, I'd prefer if Crabbe doesn't see me in my bra again."

"I'm sorry love." I helped button her blouse and straighten her up. We walked to Snape's office, it was guarded by death eaters. They gave us a smile, but not the kind type, and moved aside as we walked up the spiral stairs. The door opened before we could knock.

"Enter." Snape says coldly. We entered inside the dark office. "Mr. Malfoy. Miss. Silverling. Sit." We looked at each other and listened.

"I suppose you know why you two are in here."

"No, sir." Veronica says quietly.

"I suppose you know where Potter and your sister is, Veronica?"

"No. And if I knew I would never tell you." She stood up with anger.

Damnit, Veronica. Why can't you keep your damn mouth shut?

"Sit. Down!" Snape calls out to her. She sits while staring at him. "I'm not going to ask where they are. I just want to make sure they are safe." We looked at each other puzzled.

"S-safe?"

"Yes, Draco. Safe."

"But...but why do you care? You're a death eater. You're supposed to find them, not protect them."

"Miss. Silverling. Just like you, I did not choose this life. It's a long story and if I told you, it will get us all killed. Just listen to what I have to say. You two need to make sure you stay out of trouble. Do not contact them. I saw a letter go to the Slytherin dungeon and I figured it was for you. Do not draw attention to yourself. Make sure you have polyjuice potion handy. The potion can last a long time. Once you add the hair of whoever you want to change to, then you will have to drink it. Other than that it is safe to store. Understood?"

"Yes, sir."

"Very well. Leave." We stood up quickly in silence and left. Once we reached our common room, Veronica pulled out her cauldron and began making polyjuice.

"You know, he didn't mean make it right away."

"I know, but I would rather be prepared for anything."

"This is why I love you. You're always thinking ahead."
