If you'd ask Min Aera how she spent her youth she would tell you about all the heartbreaks that shaped her into the woman she was today.

26 years ago Aera met Jeon Hyun-woo for the first time.

Unlike the romantic films she'd watched before or the beautiful novels she read like there was no tomorrow she didn't fall in love with her future husband at first sight, and she never liked him either.

But that wasn't important, because one look was enough for her to tell that they would end up together.

She was an intelligent and quick-witted young woman who didn't let anyone fool her, not anymore and the oh-so-charming Hyun-woo was no exception.

It was no real surprise that she could see right through his facade.
She saw a twisted man who couldn't love anyone but himself and that was exactly what made him perfect for her.

Aera grew up in a family where money was considered more important than love.

Happiness came second. 

She knew how tough the real world was but she still believed in happy endings.
The poor girl had to learn the hard way that the only thing that lasts is wealth.

The first time she fell in love, she was barely a day older than 16.

The boy next door, whom she had known and admired for years, didn't only make the sweetest promises, but also told the most beautiful lies one could imagine.

He was the first person who could make her feel safe and loved, only to leave her once he'd taken her innocence away.

Looking back, she wanted to slap herself for falling for his sugar-coated words, never doubting his feelings.
She was too young to know his intention and too ready to please him that she forgot who she was and what she wanted.

Now it was too late, he took something from her that she will never get back.

The second time it happened, she was so sure that he was the right one for her.

His name was Sung-ho, a man twice her age who should have known better than to play with a child's heart.
The moment she realized that he was only using her to forget about the problems he had with his wife at home, she broke off all contact with that cheating liar.

If she had known that he was married, she wouldn't have spared him a single glance, but she didn't and now it was her who had to live with the consequences.

After the ugly end of their relationship, she suffered for a long time from trust issues.
She firmly believed that it was her fault that no one could love her.

Was it her childlike naivete or her almost too pure view of love that attracted these types of people? Or was it less about her personality and more about her beautiful face, which men couldn't resist? She didn't know the answer and in all honesty, she was afraid of the truth.

The last time she fell for someone, she was only 22 years old.
After taking a break from love and focusing on her career as her parents always told her to, she was finally content.
It took her a while to heal and accept reality, but now she was stronger and happier than ever.
But that happiness didn't last for long.

Lukas was younger than her, but no less mature.
He had his way with words that could make anyone feel special, including Aera.
Now that she was no longer a child and knew that strong emotions can cause pain, she hesitated more than before, but that didn't bother her lover.
Lukas was a good guy who genuinly liked and appreciated her, he would have done almost anything for his precious Aera.
He knew about her scars and the fools that caused them, but her past didn't make her look weak in his eyes, it was quite the opposite- her terrible experiences only made him want to protect  her even more.

Granted, their love story started out rocky and had many ups and downs, but they wouldn't want it any other way.

Unlike her previous affairs, which treated her badly without any reason, Lukas always tried his best to prove that he was worthy of her trust, that she would never regret choosing him.
He made it his personal mission to tell her every day about his undying love for her, never failing to put a smile on her pretty face.

His confessions changed each time, the more he learned about her, the more he fell in love with all of her, even her flaws.

They were what people would call a perfect couple, and after just two years together they decided to take the next step and get married.

But before they could say yes to each other, they found out about Aera's unexpected pregnancy, which caused them to delay their plans.
But although the news came out of nowhere, they were still excited about the opportunity to raise their own family, they felt fulfilled.

Lukas became more protective of his fiance and tried his best to help her through morning sickness and mood swings.
He was always the first to ask her about her health and feelings, massage her feet after a long day, or buy the strangest combination of snacks at midnight.

There was no denying that even someone like him, an angel when it comes to patience, would occasionally lose his composure but he never let his anger out on her since he knew that she needed him.

Both future parents waited 9 long months for their little baby girl.
They spent 9 months passionately loving and hating each other, but the day that should be the happiest of their lives turned out to be worse than hell.

The child was dead.

It was a miracle that she survived the birth of her stillborn baby, but in her eyes it was the greatest punishment she could ever face.
After the incident everything went downhill.

Her lover, who always looked at her with love, couldn't even bear the thought of being near her. 

the man who saw her as his fate was long gone, now he has been replaced by someone who didn't only see but also treated her as the murder of their child.

She was foolish to think that someone like her, someone who has always been an misfit, deserved a family.
