a/n: the next chapters is a continuation of the events from yuna's point of view. (i.e. before accident, how it led to why she did what she did)

yuna looked at the ever shrinking figure of her mother. the distance increasing by the second. "no, mom!" she screamed. she tried to release herself from her father's strong grip. "mom! don't leave me! where are you going?"

her mom stopped. hope flickered inside of yuna. then her mother continued to take a step then another. leaving her in that mansion.

yuna jerked awake. her breathing erratic as she wiped her moist cheeks. she pulled her knees towards her chest and rested her head on her knee. she tried to calm herself to no avail. she was still hyperventilating. i need my pills. she thought.

she ravaged her night stand with her shaky hands pushing the remaining things to the floor with her pillow. she shook the bottle and gulped in numerous pills that her psychiatrist gave her at one go. one pill is no longer enough to calm her down. the nightmares come more frequently nowadays. she gulped water and rested her head on her pillow.

months passed after the accident with taerin. yuna's state of mind became worst and worst. she became more listless, distracted and often forget what she did. her memory had gaps between them. those gaps were filled in by her classmates stories that she heard told behind her back. how she had sudden outbursts when someone accidentally dropped her book. or that time when they accidentally stepped on her shoes because she walked too slowly.

that day, her family were going to have lunch with beomgyu's family. yuna was overjoyed. she could finally talk to him again after a while. he was the only one she could truly confide in. however, she realised that he was never focused on her. on how beautifully she dressed. on how thin she had become. on how tired she looked. she tried to swallow her sorrow while they were sitting on the bench in the gardens of her house. she took in the fresh air, watching the butterflies. memories of them running around catching those butterflies or lying on the grass after playing catch, their heads touching while they laughed with content. she could only see the ghost of those memories flash in front of her eyes. she looked at beomgyu who was sitting beside her. clearly disinterested in her and was too busy chatting in his phone. she glanced at his phone screen. she saw "tae ❤️" glaring at her from the top of her screen. she knew that this was bound to happen. she took a deep breathe to relax herself. "so, how was your holiday, beomgyu?"

"it was okay i guess." he shrugged. his eyes still glued on his phone screen not even taking a glance at the pained eyes of yuna. the silence enveloped them again. yuna glanced around before an idea flickered in her mind. "so i'm going shopping later. do you want to come?" she asked.

hm.." beomgyu was still occupied. for a fact yuna actually knew that he did not listen to what she just asked as he was too intrigued in the conversation happening else where. however, yuna saw it as an opportunity to bond with him again. to replenish their friendship that was tearing away so she took it as a 'yes'. her eyes lit up. imagining what good time she was gonna have with her first love.

"GREAT!" yuna exclaimed.

"wait.. what?!" beomgyu was evidently startled by the conclusion that was reached by the one way conversation. his eyes wide. his mouth agape. it actually amused yuna. a first after that horrifyinh accident.

yuna rushed into her living room to announce their departure to their parents.

"eomma, appa beomgyu said he's willing to accompany me shop!" she addressed her parents with a genuinely cheerful voice. she addressed them that way in front of the guests. they must not know what an awful father he was to her or how her 'mother' was not really her mother. she shook her head to get out of the trance.

"oh great! that'll keep his eyes off his phone." yuna heard mrs choi, beomgyu's mother chirped. her beautiful features stretched into a smile.

"but eomma!" beomgyu protested as soon as he entered the doors of the living room. he was huffing as he tried to catch up with yuna who was skipping to the livinh room moments before.

"no buts young man. go take your car. it's been a while since you two spend time together anyway." his father told him. yuna knew that his parents wanted them to bond. they used to do it so often when they were young. so why not now? that was probably what they thought.

"and that phone stays here." his mom asserted. yuna did a secret victory dance. she could finally really talk to him. not with a mentally absent boy.

"fine." beomgyu said. resignation filled his statement trying not to grumble in front of their hosts who had so kindly made them lunch.

"eomma, appa, uncle, auntie see you later." beomgyu bowed at them. "thank you for the meal". yuna did the same and closely followed beomgyu.

the atmosphere was almost awkward. the lingering silence making yuna feel sheepish while beomgyu was focusing on the road. yuna shifted her gaze towards the passing buildings and the pedestrians walking on the bustling streets. she suddenly felt her phone buzzed. she looked at the phone. the word "appa" flashed on her screen, a paragraph long message following it. "this is your chance to ruin that taerin girl. i'm giving you this chance, don't mess it up."

yuna's eyebrows knitted in confusion. then she saw that name. that damned name. her blood boiled. she knew she should've stopped it before it started. she huffed and scrolled through her kakao talk she tapped on a particular name. hyebin. one of yuna's minions. the wannabe. she was definitely ready to help her anytime. "hi hyebin" "i need your help".
