Flowers of various kinds were crashing over and over carelessly on the sides of the basket in which they were being carried. The persecution of which the young florist was being a victim, didn't give her the chance to check the possible damage that she was doing to the plants, she had to keep running as fast as possible, but her not-so-good physical condition didn't allow her to flee in the way that she'd like; besides, the rain that had recently begun to fall made it more difficult for her to run properly. She was being chased by a group of hilichurls, they wouldn't have scared her more than normal if it wasn't because this time there was one of those gigantic hilichurls with a big wooden shield chasing her too; she had managed to dodge them a few times, but she couldn't last much longer.
Out of the corner of her eye, when trying to see how close they were from her, she caught a glimpse of the big hilichurl getting ready to attack her. Her eyes widened in despair, she was sure she was going end up in a hospital bed for some months if it wasn't because of her savior coming to her aid. The Captain of the Cavalry, a tall man with dark blue hair tied in a low ponytail, was well known to the girl. Truth be told, he was exactly who she was expecting to see at that moment.
Kaeya pushed her out of the way of the great hilichurl, drew his sword, and then turned to see her over his shoulder.
"Wait for me in front of the city gate. Run."
The girl did not hesitate twice to obey the command of the member of the Knights of Favonius and ran in the direction of the city of Mondstadt.
"This is the fifth time I've saved you this week." The blue-haired man spoke after taking a sip of his wine. "It's a lot of trouble for a florist, don't you think?
"I-It is..." She fiddled with her drink.
Kaeya didn't take long in coming back after he sent her back to Mondstadt. It was quite fast, the rain combined with his cryo helped him to freeze the enemies, making his job much easier. Once they met where the knight had told her, he accompanied her to deliver the flowers with her boss at the flower shop and then invited her to the tavern to hang out and chat. Little did the young woman know that the handsome men suspected something was wrong.
"Have you discussed the matter with your boss?"
"Uh... I've mentioned it to her."
"And what did she say?" He questioned.
"She said she would send someone else soon, or someone good at fighting will accompany me, but doesn't know when." She bit her lower lip lightly without turning to see him.
"Oh really? I think she should stop sending you out at once, I still don't understand why after four times of being assaulted by the hilichurls she insists in sending you. Because of what happened today she should rush the matter of finding someone else even more.
"Y-Yeah! I think so too..." She swallowed.
"You don't seem very convinced." Kaeya looked at her directly, subtly searching for her gaze, she was lying in a part of her story and there was something that she hadn't yet confessed.
"Don't worry about me!" She said nervously taking a sip of her drink; still not looking at him. "I-I don't think I'll run into those hilichurls again, i-it was just a failure in my plans, that's all!"
"What plans?" He caught her.
"Ah? I mean... my p-plans for picking flowers. That is!"
"Are you sure about that?" Kaeya cupped one of her cheeks to move her face up to him to see her face to face.
The young woman's cheeks burned. She couldn't resist his charismatic way of being, as well as his charming voice and gaze. This was too much for her. Everything she had done was because of her desire to see him, it wasn't the smartest idea of all, but the fact that Kaeya saved her made her feel protected. To tell the truth, her boss didn't force her to go to pick flowers, she volunteered herself, after all, someone had to do it anyways. Her crazy and absurd idea began after the first time she went to pick up the needed flowers; that day her encounter with the hilichurls was totally an accident, there were only two of them, but they were quite annoying. One snatched her basket and the other one kept chasing her with a bat. It took her a long time to find a particular type of flower, so leaving the basket behind and escaping wasn't an option, plus it was not hers, but her boss' basket. She expected some adventurer or Knight of Favonious to show up, and just as if Barbatos had heard her pleas, the blue-haired man made an appearance, consequently saving her and her flowers from the hilichurls.
Her feelings for Kaeya were nothing new. Months had passed since the first time she fell in love with him, but she had no idea how to approach the Captain of the Cavalry, the young woman found it a bit difficult to talk in a non-awkwardly way with people she didn't know, besides that she felt that his title as the Captain of the Cavalry intimidated her a little bit, without mentioning that he must be a very busy man, what could a florist talk about to a member of the Knights of Favonious that he could find interesting or that would lead to getting to know each other better? She had no idea. That's why she repeatedly put herself in minimal danger hoping for him to save her, in those encounters she had very good opportunities to start a conversation with him, not to mention that Kaeya expressed his concern for her well-being and made sure she wasn't injured. That made her heart skip a bit.
"I knew you had feelings for me." He spoke after the girl gave him a very brief explanation of what was going on in her mind.
"E-Eh!? H-How did you know!?" She was totally flushed.
"But you shouldn't put yourself in danger." He continued, ignoring her question. "If I hadn't arrived on time today, what would have happened to you? That's the only thing that bothers me."
The embarrassed young woman remained silent.
"About the other matter..." He took the last sip of his wine. "I accept your feelings."
"What? For real!?" She exclaimed in disbelief.
"Of course." He chuckled at the astonishment on her face. "I have also had my eyes on you from time to time without you noticing, that's why I was been able to tell when you were in danger."
The blue-haired man got up from his seat, leaving mora on the table to pay for both of them.
"Would you mind if I pick you up at the flower shop tonight? We could go out for dinner if that's okay with you."
"I-Is it a date...?"
"You're quick-witted." He smiled at her. "Well, I must return to my duties. See you tonight."
