"Guess who­~!"

             My eyes were covered from behind by a soft pair of hands. I knew the person who owned that voice very well, so it didn't take me a second to recognize her.

"I know it's you, (Y/N).

           As soon as I gave the right answer, she uncovered my eyes and lazily lay down on the couch in front of me. While I continued reading the documents that I was holding in my hands, she turned to see what I was doing without saying a word. Even though her eyes were locked in my direction, I could tell that she really wasn't paying attention to what I was doing, but rather she was just staring into space. I have known her for years —since childhood to be precise—, so I could tell that something was bothering her.

"What's wrong?" I asked her and put the papers on the table; her eyes shifted to mine.

"Zack confessed to me." She stated. 

          The black-haired guy my friend was talking about was another member of the Fatui. Just like both of us. I wasn't surprised that Zack confessed his love to her. Actually, I was aware of his feelings towards (Y/N), and I wouldn't have cared less if it weren't because I was also in love with her.

"And what do you think about that?" I rested my chin on my fist. She shook her head.

"He's nice, but I don't like him in that way."

"So, are you ready to talk about us now?" This time she sat properly on the couch, giving me all her attention.

           As I mentioned earlier, we've known each other since childhood. We've been best friends for years and whenever we hung out around the streets of our hometown we could hear people say things like "those two are inseparable". Indeed, we spent most of the day together when we had the opportunity. My romantic interest in her was nothing new either; in fact, at the age of six, with the innocence of a child, I asked her to be my wife. As expected she rejected me saying that she was still too young to get married, but that she agreed to be my girlfriend. At that time our relationship was nothing else than a game, after a few days later we completely forgot about the matter. Nevertheless, little did I know my feelings for her were meant to bloom again.

           As we grew older, I realized that I was actually seeing her in a different light, and this time it wasn't a game. I began to miss her every chance I had, no matter what I did I got lost in thoughts of her, I couldn't stay focused. Even if each day was long and boring, I knew everything would be okay if I just heard her voice. But it wasn't until a few weeks ago that I decided to confess my feelings to her. I knew that someday we'd meet each other like this, yet her first response was something that took me by surprise.

'Is this another game like the one we played when we were kids?'

           I froze for a moment. Why would she think that I was playing such a game at the age we are nowadays? While explaining my feelings to her, the truth came to light. She was also in love with me, but she didn't dare to tell me because of the fear of messing up our longtime friendship in case I didn't reciprocate her feelings.

'If our relationship doesn't work out, what's going to happen? I don't want to lose contact with you, I love you too much to go through something like that. Even as a Fatui, we are almost always together because I'm your right-hand woman. I wouldn't be able to bear a breakup with you, Childe.'  That was what she said with a shaky voice. At that moment, we decided to give ourselves a little more time to think about things better.

           Going back to what was happening now, I supposed that by telling me what happened with Zack, she wanted to bring back the situation we were talking about weeks ago.

"Sometimes I feel like if you could read my mind." She tried to joke, but because of her body language it was obvious that she wasn't in the mood of joking, her insecurity about us was beginning to invade her once more, so I decided to act quickly before her fears took hold of her and deprived her of thinking with clarity like how happened last time. 

"(Y/N), don't think too lightly of this, because I'm being serious now." I stood in front of her. "I understand why you feel that way, but do you want to be in the grip of your fears forever? Stop worrying over it and smile." I warmly smiled at her as I gently caressed her cheek with my thumb. "There's nothing to be afraid of. I've had plenty of time to think about this and I already decided that I want to be with you. I'm willing to do everything I can to make our relationship work. When you open your eyes each morning I'll be by your side, and when you can't sleep at night I'll hold you tight. Just let me love you." I paused my speech for a few seconds to admire her pretty face, her ruby red cheeks matched perfectly with her shining eyes. "Now all you need to do is nod a bit for me... What do you say?"
