"There you are, Venti!"

The archon, who was admiring the big leafy tree of Windrise, turned around to see her when he heard his name being pronounced. The girl was frowning; hence he could tell she was mad.

"I've been looking for you. We need to talk!" Because of the angry face she made, her cheeks puffed up a bit; the black-haired got a little closer to her and playfully poked one of her cheeks with his index finger.

"What's the matter?" He asked.

"T-This isn't the time for games." The girl said, trying to hide her flustered face.

"All right, all right. I'm all ears."

"Good." She cleared her throat to start speaking. "I want you to tell me why you have been overprotecting me, you have left me out of the missions as much as you can. I'm a member of the Knights of Favonius too, this is my job, I know how to take care of myself; I also want to help as much as possible with what's happening with Dvalin. So I want you to tell me what's going on."

"Very well, I'll tell you."

"I won't take a no--! Wait, really?"

"Of course." He nodded and took out his lyre. "With a short verse."

Venti's fingers slid gently along the lyre's strings, letting out a beautiful melody. The wind gently caressed his hair as well as the leaves of the huge tree behind him, giving the scene a touch of divinity.

"It is still impossible for me to distinguish this pain

with a year, night and day, having weakened my heartthe skin attached to the bone*and the seed of love growing in that wound.
You, my poetry, feed me with inspiration,
return to my life, and nourish my heart.
If you were to ignore my clamor,
I'd pick up my pieces and hide with the sun."

It took her a few seconds to realize that Venti had stopped playing his lyre. She was confused. The words he dedicated to her were still spinning in her head, trying to decipher their meaning. It wasn't until her eyes met the boy's aqua eyes that she realized he was waiting for a response.

"W-What was t-that? I don't think I'm following you."

"You're as naïve as she was too."

"H-Hey! What do you mean by 'she'? And w-was that a-a confession?" She was so confused that she didn't know exactly which answer she wanted first, so she unconsciously asked both questions at the same time.

"Of course. It was about time for me to confess."

"But... But that still doesn't answer my question!" Her face began to turn crimson.

"Oh... is that a 'no'?" Venti asked with a disappointed tone in his voice.

"Yes! N-No! I-I mean... It was not a 'no'." She shook her head slightly in an attempt to organize the whirlwind of thoughts in her head. Venti sighed deeply and raised his gaze to the sky, a small smile was drawn on his face, then he looked back to his interlocutor.

"We have known each other for some time now." He began to explain. "From the moment I saw you, you reminded me of an old friend of mine. She was human too. In fact, I think that she was just as naïve, brave, adventurous, and —at times— a bit cheeky, just like you. When I had the opportunity I used to spend time with her, we did many different things, fun and not so fun stuff, we even had some dangerous adventures, but we always enjoyed each other's company. Unfortunately, one day in winter when I went to Mondstadt to visit her, I found out that on one of her adventures trying to get medicine for the sick she took so many risks, she did more than she could bear. In consequence, she left this world." He paused for a moment and looked at her once again. Without realizing it, his gaze had slowly lowered to the ground.

"Venti..."

"Don't worry, that was a long time ago, I've gotten over it." He spoke again before the girl could say anything else. "And please, I beg you not to think that I'm in love with you just because you remind me of her. It's not like that at all. While I can't deny that at the beginning I was drawn to you because of the personality traits you both share, I know you two are different people. It's just that I was fretted by how dangerous these missions were since I don't want to lose you too."

The eyes of the God of Freedom denoted sincerity. Once he finished his story, the girl approached him and took his hands, giving him a compassionate smile, she never imagined that the root of his concern had such a deep meaning.

"Thank you for entrusting me with something that important."

The Archon of Anemo spread his arms a little bit, he intended to embrace her but stopped his action to await her approval. (Y/N) hugged him without thinking twice, sweetly burying her face in his neck. Venti wrapped his arms around her holding her gently, not planning to let her go any time soon.
